Cendyne/ Ricoh 7080A 8X4X32 4MB for $99.99

Need a new CDRW...wondering if this is good deal?
I know that Cendyne 8432 is indeed Ricoh 7080A at CompUSA for $99.99 this week.

But I also like to know if they are any good??????

And by the looks of it, clone cd also supports the ricoh 7080...check clonecd's list...and if this uses the ricoh 7080 mech...then it should work...says that it needs firm ware 1.10 or higher...here is link for clone....

Does any body know if this mean the Ricoh will burn w/ RAW DAO(make a perfect of copy of anything, including all the copy protection) under CloneCD?

If someone can verify that this is indeed a Ricoh 7080A, then it's definately a hot deal(since it can make perfect backup copy.) Note, however, that the demo of CloneCD will only let you burn CD at 2x. You need to register(pay for it) to take full advantage of this excellent software.

I bought my Yamaha 8x/4x/24x for $75 , but it only do Clone CD RAW SAO.

I've been looking around on the net, and i'm pretty sure that its a Ricoh or Plextor. Strangely I saw one site that said that it was a Acer.

It only has 2MB buffer. It comes with NERO, according to the box.

I am thinking about buying that Ricoh, to replace my Yamaha8x(4 meg). I was able to surf the web & burn my disk at the same time w/ the Yamaha. I am not sure if I will able to surf the web and burn at the same time w/ the Ricoh? Someone w/ a Ricoh 7080A please answer. The Yamaha do RAW SAO under CloneCD. It has backup most of my game fine. Some game won't install however. I have to install from the original disk, then it play fine w/ the copied disk(Unreal Tournament). That seem strange.

The Acer 8x has 8 meg, not 2 meg like the Ricoh.

I was just at CompUSA, and I can confirm that the Cendyne units they
are selling have a 2Mb buffer. The boxes have a specs sticker
on them that says 2Mb. This sticker is pasted over what appears
to be the original set of specs. They had at least 20 of the
Cendynes in stock, and all were labeled the same.

I don't know what drive is in the boxes, but you should expect
a 2Mb buffer.

Oh, and the boxes had a sticker on them indicating they come with
(some version of) Nero.

The original Cendyne was made by Ricoh.
However, this one is NOT 4mb model, thus, I don't know who mades this drive.
( I didn't buy it, don't want to end up w/ Memorex made pos )
