but look at what they have to gain. they must have received 1000 orders, and even if i fifth go bak a leave good resellersratings for them, then they are set for the future. short term loss =long term profit

for $200 more, i got my IBM X31 (P-M1.3GHz centrino) laptop for $999 direct from IBM. although i do lack in some areas such as hd space, IBM is much more well known for their reliability and support.

Man--You guys are very brave to order a laptop from a vendor of questionable reliability. Even if the deal is honest and I receive a laptop, hopefully in a reasonable time frame, I would be concerned about the longevity and warranty service of the computer. It's not like a desktop where repairs are easy . . .

(BTW, I also read the article in Maximum PC, May 2004 issue.) My philosophy is: "Let others test the vendor, THEN I'll jump in."

The reviews are fake. Read up on the comments posted on their multiple reseller ratings profile.

MaximumPC recently had an article on shady resellers using their good name and "reviews" to sell their goods. Weren't TechTV's problems mentioned in it as well?

Anyway, point is, the reviews are bogus. What often happens is that the reseller takes part of a very particular review in the magazine on a (usually related) piece of hardware that might be in the reseller's machine and attributes the review to the whole unit. e.g. if there's a Centrino processor in it, they quote something from a review MaximumPC or TechTV did on just the Centrino processor but make it look as though it applies to their particular product. And sometimes it's just outright fabrication and has nothing to do with what the magazine published. If I recall correctly, MaximumPC has only had limited success going after these jerks.

EDIT: I think it was the April issue (possibly May). It was also mentioned that they so far have very few legal remedies at their disposal (which seems odd given you can use the DMCA to sue someone for sneezing in your direction), so these false endorsements may continue to pop up elsewhere as well. Be wary.

i agree with your philosophy, thats why i let the CC company try out the vendor

nope, order status just says "new"

for people who ordered the desktops, there is a two week delay with the color cases so its gonna be a while before it ships
