does this look right? (AMD)
would'nt you spread it on the core like as3?

I spread it with a credit card like as3 because like you I was worried. A week later saw a noticeable temperature drop just as I was about to pull it and re-apply it as they said in your instructions; it took a while to cure but it's fine if you spread it as I see it.

I spread it out like ASIII too. I'm not going to depend on the heatsink to smoosh it out completely and evenly over the core.

RIF=reading is fundamental They do not say to apply it to the heatsink, they say to apply it then wipe it off with a lint free cloth! This "tints" the heatsink filling in the microscopic valleys. You are then to apply it either to the core, or if using a CPU with an IHS to the IHS.

That's what I did too; I think the original question was about the rice-sized splotch of ceramique applied to the chip and then left to squish about. At least that's how I read the amd directions (and didn't follow):Q.

You're right though if I and other dummies like me read the directions more, we wouldn't do such dumb things! In general

LMAO! You're right! I'm the one needs to read He's wondering why they say to just put some in the middle and squish it out with the cooler instead of spreading a thin layer over the core before mounting. I'm thinkin' he was wondering if he should put it on the heatsink instead My bad!

i tried applying Ceramique the normal way and the way involving the squishing, and i got the same temps both ways. 6 to one, half dozen to the other.
