After thorough evaluation, I've concluded that Cha Cha is useless. It's basically trained monkeys that google your question and return the first result they find.

You might not find that so handly when you have a computer in front of you and can google it yourself, but it can be quite handy when you are out somewhere and all you have is your cell phone.
Exactly - go to an event when you don't have a laptop, want to browse websites on your phone, etc. and just want a simple answer. You don't even have to type your question, call them if you want, and it'll be sent as an answer to you through a text message.

If you're driving, ask "Where is the cheapest gas in ______________?"
If you're in a meeting and want updates to the score for a game, just text them.

Overall, I love the convenience, and use it probably 2-3 times a month, and my only question is if they can monetize it and make the business profitable. Their patents describe some methods and so I think something is cooking...

In other words, it's an alternative to iPhoning a friend if your friends are sick of looking stuff up for you. I have a Sprint SERO plan with unlimited browsing though, so I never really have a problem finding something online on my phone. But I do see how it could be useful while driving.

I have a question: how do they make money? I don't see any ads on the site.

Yea, SERO + GOOGLE on phone = win

One of my friends works as one of ChaCha's agents. I believe he's paid 20 cents per answer.

Yeah, they start newbies off at 15 cents now, though.

15 cents for answering questions? damn I need to look into this, sounds like a lazy mans dream, although I gotta assume they limit how many questions you get? if I could do 100 an hour I'd be more than happy to stop my real job.

I am the OP of this. I haven't really done it since late May. When you figure it out, the total that you make is below minimum wage for a real job. Also, this is assuming that you do it constantly at a good rate. It is cool to do with some spare time as long as you enjoy it, but don't look at it as a job, because it won't work out.

There's no limit on questions, but you have to follow procedure, which includes linking to a source. Don't expect to average more than 1 question a minute on average.

I don't know what it was like in May, but if you go on in the evening now it is mostly teenagers asking things like "what's a boner?" and "does Bob like me?" It's a lot of stuff that can be answered quickly.

I'm averaging around 8-12 dollars an hour. I've got macros set up to make things faster. I rarely do it for an hour straight; I just do it 15 minutes here and there.

this is pretty cool, and not to thread crap but subservient chicken owns this. He doesn't answer questions, but I had him doing the robot and the funky chicken dance.

subservient chicken is possibly the coolest web site ever, I can't believe it's still online! I wonder how much they pay the people to dress up in the chicken suit and follow orders? I use to have him doing pushups and jumping jacks and flapping his wings while running in circles.
Lol! No, they don't pay some fool to be in the room and ready to do funny actions. It's all pre-recorded, and different text commands are mapped to different actions!

oh wow I feel dumb, I read this on Wikipedia yesterday DOH! I thought it had to be a live dude because when I told him to do the electric slide dance he did it. AMAZING programming on their part. It looses some of it's coolness knowing it's not live but it's still hella fun.

Ahhhhhh.... and if they can't find it on google, they ask here. No wonder there's been an increase in idiotic threads lately.

If a guide doesn't answer a question after ten minutes it suppose to get recycled back into the system. Your question must have got lost in the twilight zone or something.

I am a guide. I have done around 4,000 searches so far for them. Been doing it since early june.

It is a great way to make money on the side.

If anyone wants any info on how to join PM me.

This sounds really interesting. I think I would like to be a guide, but is this place legit? Or is it elaborate scam to get people's bank information?

How do they make money? They don't charge people that ask questions and they pay people that answer them?

There is no limit, but it does take a bit of time to do an answer because you have to use their procedures in order to create short-links for the citation to the answer you give. If you're very focused and incredibly fast/accurate you can manage about 50/hr. There is also a bonus program for perfect accuracy with a high number of responses. It's not hard to average $7-9/hr.

No scam; Jeff Bezos from amazon and other people like that have invested millions into it.

Right now I assume that building up the brand is taking precedent over profits. They have, however, started to experiment with tiny Coke Zero ads attached to the messages in certain markets.
