Chaintech VNF4 + Cool 'n Quiet = Trouble?

I wanted to enable Cool 'n Quiet to keep my idle temps down. I downloaded the processor driver from AMD's site here and installed the driver and rebooted. After the reboot I changed my power profile to "Portable/Laptop" to enable Cool'n'Quiet multiplier scaling. I checked my frequency and it scaled the multi down from 9x (3000+) to 5x. So far so good... Then I launch Maya (3d modeling CPU intensive) and my machine crashed (I believe when it tried to scale the multi back up to 9x).

It should be noted that I am using the Beta BIOS for this board dated 1/17. My HTT is currently 267MHz which means my CPU runs at 2403MHz and my HTT Multiplier is at 4x. Everything is prime95 stable. When I clocked everything to stock speeds I did not have this problem.

I have a few theories on why this isn't working: 1) When the driver activates a multiplier change it changes the HTT multiplier to the default (5x). When it scales down there isn't a problem, but when it tries to scale to 267MHz * 5x the board crashes. 2) My powersupply can't handle the jump from 1.1v -> 1.4v when C'n'Q tries to jump from 5x to 9x (I have an Antec 430W TruePower).

Has anyone else who is overclocking tried C'n'Q? If so, what have your experiences been?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Try to back down the overclock little by little and see if it works at all.

The number 2) possibility can't be correct if CnQ works when the CPU is running at stock speeds, right?
