Noticed that too. I guess the low price comparing to other announced NF4 Ultra mb has to do with less this and that. 4 SATA instead of 8 is fine with me, but no firewire at all is rather frustrating.
I like the passive chipset cooling = less noise.
I have decided to wait a bit for some review of the major mbs in NF4 Ultra version. I didn't jump on the ASUS SLI because that was the first available when I don't intend to use SLI, I'm not going to jump on the first Ultra either. I'm sure by the mid-January we'll have a better view of the offer on this chipset.

If anyone finds any reviews/benchmarks of the board please post them. I should have all of my stuff in about a week (Chaintech VNF4 ultra, athlon 64 3200+ 90nm, asus geforce 6600gt, 2x512 corsair pc3200, seagate 160gb sata II w/ncq, antec sonata case. I also ordered the 20 to 24 pin converter because i dont want to have to wait to get everything going. I'm interested to see what I'll be able to do with overclocking and whatnot.

Would be nice... should I wait for version 1.01 to come out? Or stay happy with 1.00??
Seems like a good motherboard if all the features work of course. The bleeding edge is a scary place.
Every motherboard goes thru a few revisions.

I've only heard complaints about OC'ing, which I have no interest in. I'll let you know how well it works w/ an optimized - not OC'd - configuration as soon as I can free up the time to put my system together. It should be tonight or tomorrow.

i have the ram on its way, but my MSI k8n neo plat doesnt support ddr2...i may have to buy the chaintech mobo......

I don't understand why there haven't been any mainstream reviews. Why wouldn't Chaintech have sent out eval boards? Hopefully they're not just afraid of getting bad press for cutting corners... I'm starting to get paranoid.

yeah, paranoid here too....up untill i found out the ram i bought is 240 pin. not to mention no athlon64 mobos supporting ddr2 till atleast february!!!

Newegg also has the Gigabyte GA-K8NF-9 motherboard which specs out almost identicaly to the Chaintech, but thier sold out of it too! Lucky me' I'm half tempted to go to my local PC Club and buy thier build it kit with a Gigabyte GA-K8NSU nF3 motherboard AND a AMD Athlon64 3500+ cpu for $379.00 at least then I could get to work building my new PC to replacd this relic from the ice ages I'm using now!

yeah the gigabyte is not ultra - i got the chaintech because i wanted to be able to use the sata II and other ultra features - now if only the kind ups man will bring it to me....
