Change default install directory to D: ???

Where's the registry key to change the default install directory from C:\Program Files\ to D:\Program Files\ ???

I would like to do this without tweakUI since it's a work machine..

If you do a search on the registry, you'll likely find that "C:\Program Files\" is in there well over 100 times (well, mebbe not that many if it is a new system. ).

With that said, why are you trying to move \Program Files and is it really worth it?

In w2k there's an option in system properties to set system default paths, etc... I dunno if it's in nt 4, sorry.

Key: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\]
String: ProgramFilesDir/ProgramFilesPath
Value Data: C:\Program Files (default)

Just change that path to where you want it. - At least that's what it is for WIN 9x - Good luck with NT!

I'm doing it because other users will be installing software to this machine which has a small C: partition and a large D:
It's easy for me to change it to D: during an install, but these other users are just gonna click OK to all of the default settings, so I want it to default to D:
