Change dual to single boot

I'm running dual boot (2K/ME). My HD has two partition: NTFS & FAT32.
I want to replace two partitions to one (NTFS), and run only WIN-2K.
Do I need to use Partitin Magic to do that, or WIN-2K start-up disks
will do it?

If you want to "combine" the two partitions you do need to use partition magic. You can't combine though, you just have to expand into Unallocated Drive Space. PMagic can also only expand towards the end of the disk, so if you have, for example, a 30GB drive, and the partition you want to keep starts at 10GB, you can't expand back to the beginning. (If this has changed in newer PMagics someone please correct me) If your NTFS partition is first, I would just remove the FAT32 partition and expand outwards, and have one big drive. (If I remember right that FAT partition would HAVE to be first to install ME, so you're kinda hosed there.)

Kinda convoluted, but I hope it helps!

Also, you will have to fdisk your MBR and remove ME from yout boot.ini. But, I ask why don't you clean up your HD and reinstall with a clean copy of win2K? It's always good to start fresh.

There is no need to "fdisk /mbr" in this situation. In fact, if you do it, you will only be able to boot WinME ... which you are removing or have already removed.

Just edit C:\boot.ini.

My HD is 20GB, FAT32 partition is 5GB, and NTFS partition is 15GB.
I was using WIN-ME only for printing (no 2K drivers for my printer).
I'm installig new printer (with 2K support), so no longer need for ME.
I want to re-format whole HD, and make just one 20GB partition (NTFS)
for WIN-2K. Back to the question: will 2K start-up disks do that job, or I have to use Partition Magic? (of course, I will do clean
install of WIN-2K)

Oh if you are doing a clean install of Win2000 then yes there is a partitioning tool in the Win2k setup you can use.
