Ok so Im in a bind. This morning I try to start my car and I hear a high pitched screech and then nothing. After fiddling around with it I did get it to start, and it ran fine. While the engine is idling I can hear the starter trying to start while the engine is running. Then I tried it again an hour ago and it wont start at all.
So I'm pretty sure that I need a new starter put in, and I can get one at Auto Zone for $140.
So I'm wondering how difficult this task is. Is it something that a guy with some good tools and decent knowledge can fix or is this a job for a mechanic?
BTW, I'm trading this car in, in a few months so I'm not too concerned with the quality of the component, and I'm trying to fix this as cheap as possible.
