The point of life is to live and goddamn he's doing it for all of us. Sure he won't live to 70 or even 60 but he's lived enough for 100 life times and is doing this for all of us.

he's delusional if he think's he can just waltz back to Hollywood and jump into a movie with big names. CBS will drop his ass and he'll probably end up OD'ing. Sad but true, a shame he ripped on AA so hard, I have family members who wouldn't be sober without AA.

He's right, AA is a cult and they're a bunch of losers.

I wouldn't go that far, but AA and all of those "abstinence" programs seem to set you up to fail.

I guess I just look at it differently because I'm not a big drinker, and am fine with having one beer while everyone else is having 5 or 6. But to tell someone, "Fuck it, you can't have this ever again for the rest of your life or you're a loser"... that just kinda seems kinda whack (if whatever you're consuming is legal).

Hell, I'm addicted to steak. If someone told me, "Steak is bad for you, you can't have it anymore for the rest of your life because you have a problem", I'd tell them to go fuck themselves.

considering the AA requires their members to believe in a god or higher power, he's right about it being bunk, although I'm not sure cult is the right word but its probably close enough

considering the AA requires their members to believe in a god or higher power, I'm pretty sure that qualifies as a cult

Don't you know? Alcoholism is a disease. one that you have no power over. Only by offering your soul and life up to a higher power will you ever be cured. If you don't you will remain sick. Very very sick.

There is a difference between wanting to eat steak and being addicted to a drug.

As for AA "setting you to fail" I don't see your reasoning. AA suggests complete abstinence, yes. That is the only "cure" for an addiction. If you could safely have a drink or drug or two, and didn't then use compulsively, you wouldn't be an addict.
It's not like you can just cut down and have a steak a month. Once you use a drug you are addicted to, you keep using it at the same level, or worse. Very, very few people seem to be able to go back to "controlled drinking or drugging" and that's why abstinence is the only thing that works for most people.

to be fair, he is right about aa being bs.

If you're addicted to alcohol you cannot kick the addition on your own. I met David Crosby about 20 years ago and he told me "If you know anyone who thinks they can become sober without any help at all, send them to me so I can punch them in the stomach"

and i'm sure scientology has done great things for tom cruise.

bs is bs. some people attribute success to the wrong things, the failure rate of aa is pretty damned high for something that is supposed to work.

HOLY SHIT

"Based on the totality of Charlie Sheen’s statements, conduct and condition, CBS and Warner Bros. Television have decided to discontinue production of Two and a Half Men for the remainder of the season."

There's a good chance they would have been every bit as likely to kick it without AA. The important aspect is the support. You can have that without all the BS involved in AA. In fact, considering you live with your family, I would think they would be the best support group, not some stranger who's trying to force you to believe certain things that have nothing at all to do with your problem.

In this instance, he's not talking about what AA is doing to him, he's talking about what its doing to his family. I'm not at all surprised that he feels they're brainwashing them as that's basically what they do to people. He's obviously not buying it, so they're probably pressuring the family big time. Especially if its his kids, I'd be pissed about them trying to shove the AA mantras down their throats.

Of course, he's pretty off the wall so he could also be blowing this way out of proportion.

Yes, and the only way to get help is AA, right?
