So do you endorse their rioting, the indiscriminate destruction of private property and beating of whites as shown in the linked videos? If you don't, I'd like to know why not given your reasoning above.

Absolutely I do and I started to post as much but figured it would be a waste of typing.Come on man, the guy's brother just got shot. Even if the shooting was legally justified you can understand why he's going to be angry and in shock immediately afterwards. The news media is full of ghouls always trying to get statements from people who just experienced a tragedy and this is a prime example. What do you think someone is going to say when you shove a camera and microphone in their face and say "your brother just got shot, tell us what's going through your head right now." Leave them the hell alone and respect their privacy unless they ask for the news crews to serve as their microphone.

The one think I will look for is the cops telling the entire truth. In many of these cases that hasn't happened and trust with the community has eroded.

Facts for those a bit occupied who don't live here in Charlotte.
Keith Lamont Scott was a convicted felon with multiple assault charges including physical assault of a 12 year old just a few years ago. He's had multiple weapons convictions and two of those involved firearms with intent to kill.
He had a gun, illegally as an ex felon can't legally own a gun in NC or most places for that matter.
The chief of police today said the video does not show everything, but combined with other evidence INCLUDING non-police eye witness testimony bears the truth of the police statement that he had a gun, and it was in his hand. You do not have to point your gun at an officer to be considered a deadly threat with intent.
So fuck that guy. What ever motivated him to brandish his illegal firearm is also what got him killed. No sympathy from me.
There was a picture on CNN or USA Today this morning that showed the gun on ground...
