If you live in a Charter Cable area we are also running a deal that is smoking hot right now. Free install, 1st outlet installed free, First 2 months of cable\internet completly free. No contract no catches and we give you the modem to boot. Just cant have had a active cable account over the last 90 days. Besidest thats its a give me.....Its good until September 15th.

I signed up a lady yesterday in West Sacremento for Digital MVP+ 185 Channles 1 outlet installed free in her bedroom 3 exisiting outlets hooked up. With our gold package internet 1.5mb 128kb with 4 add digital cable boxes normal cod at intall would have been 89.95 MVP 6.95 Per cable box 6.95 X 4 Total 27.80$ for boxes 150$ Cable modem free. Gold package 60.00$ Digital Data install fee 49.95$ ADD outlet install 19.95$ install cod would have been 397.65$ then if we add the free second month to this we come up with 575.40$ For Free.

I work in the Northwest Region Contact Center but from what I have been told this is all over the US. That means that over 5 Million people are eligable for this deal. My first Hot deal 500$ for free seems good to me. BTW this also applies to all service level...that means any service encluding basic cable service so if your really cheap you can start out with a basic cable\hsd package just to get your feet wet......but why when you can get everything charter has to offer for completly free....now the only small catch in this is if you downgrade after the free 2 months and we have to send a tech out to either pick up equipment or tap out exp service they will charge you 24.95 truck roll fee but thell 25$ for two months of service is one hell of a deal.

Promo Freedom deal expires 09-15-03 but charter constantly extends deals like these at least 15 more days once it expires......

"your" company is for sure not the only one running "promos"...there are a lot out there with promotional offers.

Btw. your posting sounds more like an ad...

To decide whether this is really a "deal" you would have to give the IMPORTANT information..that is...how much your cable service is AFTER the promo and how long the contract is running. Kinda hard to imagine someone giving something away for free without a catch....and i get suspiciois reading all that without the other information.

Yup. Shame on you. Hope you weren't trying to earn some extra sales...

I know Comcast is running a "win back" program for Satellite owners... not sure what the details and pricing are, but I would say your deal isn't anything special.

Good luck.

Since flexy is being a skeptic, here is what I gather from the deal:

Ask for the Freedom Package.
You get free install on the cable internet and cable TV [one set]. You will get to keep the cable modem [no name data cable] that comes with installation disk, power supply, ethernet and USB cords.

The package cost:
Expanded Basic Cable [required] is 44.95 a month. Additional channel lineups, such as Family [ABC Family, Nick Toons, etc], HBO, Showtime, Extended Cable will cost you extra. You will need to ask about the prices when you set up your account.
Cable Internet [required] is a tiered system. L1 [Bronze] is a 328kbps line, but will cost you only 20 a month. L2 [Silver] is a 728/128kbps connection at 30 a month [this is a 10 dollar savings. L3 [Gold] is a 1.5mbit/128kbps ocnnection at 40 a month [this is a 20 dollar savings]. Note: savings are only good with at least a Basic Cable connection with Charter.

The package is FREE for 2 months. You can choose any/all channels you want, as well as your Tier cost. At signing, no credit card information is collected. After 2 months, you pay for your expandid basic cable [44.95] plus the additional channels you wish to keep and the internet cost.

Ouch. Soon you will feel my pain. :frown:
I recently moved from an area with TimeWarner RoadRunner, to an area with Charter Pipeline as the only option.

Boy, what a downgrade.

It's much MUCH slower to download linux ISOs (or anything big) from any server I tried, and the newsgroups are basically useless. RR's newsgroups were blazingly fast.

This was not a add on my part trying to make money Im a simple peon working for pennies on the dollar not a Mr Paul Allen trying to score some more sales for my company. Im simply sharing the wealth since I saw another hot deals post regarding a cable company. Thought I would enable anybody that lives almost anywhere some way shape or form a way to save some money. Since cable companys dont share citys thought I would broaden the horizens.

There is no catch, their is no contract, and trust me if their was I would be the first to proclaim it. Also the monthy cost therafter let me go further into detail......... and draw a picture for you if I would.

Lets Say I move to Coos bay Oregon and want Basic cable and the gold package under this promo the smart thing to do would be for me to get Get everything then after 2 months had passed downgrade to only what I want to keep Basic cable and Internet the only cost to me at this point for changing my service would be a 23.95 Truck roll fee for them picking up the digital cable boxes and tapping out my expanded cable service. At this point you still keep the cable modem its yours and you got 2 months of free service that ballparks @ around 300$ plus the service you wanted in the first place another 200+$ bucks.

I know everybody is a critic but this is one of the HOTTEST deals I have ever seen working for Charter these last 2 years....take it or leave it your choice but if you can take advantage of it and dont your only cheating yourself.

I too am upset that their Newsgroup services are pretty much usless [assuming you have IRC]. I dont get how you can access binary headers at 1.5mbps, but are restricted to downloading threads at a total of 255 kbps over two connections. I miss my ATTBI connection, too bad when Comcast took them over they capped your downloads to 1 GIG a month [I used to do that in under 2 hours].

If you really use Newsgroups and are going to get Charter or Comcast cable modems, you are better off subscribing to a newsgroup provider for an additional 15 a month [or less if you subscribe for a full year].

Depending on the modem tier, you will either have a dual ISDN connection [30k/s], a respecatble connection [100k/s] to the standard connection [1.5mb]. Charter used to give you the slowest modem when they did special/free offers. So when you set up your account, make sure you are atleast L2 [Silver].

IMHO - this is a good deal. I signed up last week (silver level) and they're coming to do the install tomorrow. As someone above pointed out even if I decide to drop the internet service and go back to a basic cable package after 2 months, it still cost me a lot less than what I'd have paid for a couple of months of high speed access.

i can vouch for this deal, I just moved into a new house at school (Michigan tech) and went to the charter office to score tv and internet. it was expensive but i ended up with expanded digital and the silver modem which came to almost 90 a month. My sister tells me to go to the charter website and I see the free 2 month thing with free install and modem. I apply online and get an email the next day with a phone number to call to set up my account. I do and the lady gives my already made account 2 free months and free install. I saved probably 200-300 dollars. The cable modem they gave me was pretty sketchy, but it works. I would have to say this deal is worth investigating.

I've had both Comcast and Charter and I can honestly say that the ONLY way I'd sign up for Comcast again is if my only other choice was dialup. Charter is up 99% of the time and I've never had any problems with customer service. Unlike Comcast who I had to fight for 4 months after terminating service with them. They continually claimed that I never turned in my cable modem and tried charging me for it even though I faxed the turn-in receipt to them TWICE! Eventually I was able to get a supervisor to clear it up, but what a disorganized mess they are.

Definitely a Hot Deal post for Maddscientist.

I get charter internet but not the cable tv. THey insist on charging an extra $10 a month if you don't have both packages. What a scam. They'll have to pry my Directv from my cold dead hands before I EVER go back to cable tv.

I would wholeheartedly have to agree with that statement it is bs. One of the few buisness practices that charter does that is sketchy......we have tried to get them to reconsider this practice recently and where met with no progress.....to bad we would have more customers if we got rid of that bs charge thus making more money in the process but they fail to see this time and time again. Hopefully if we keep giving them nagative feedback regarding this practice we can change their way of thinking Wish me luck!

losttoys said a few posts earlier:... L1 [Bronze] is a 328kbps line, but will cost you only 20 a month. L2 [Silver] is a 728/128kbps connection at 30 a month [this is a 10 dollar savings. So if Pezman is correct does this mean I could dump my DSL (which is poor in my area) and get Charter.net ISP for $20 (+ $10) because I don't want the cable TV. $30 a month for 328kbs cable?! Please tell me I'm not dreaming! I pay that much + change for a crappy 210kbs that drops out 6x a day!

No that pricing was wrong the speed rating also However I was to lazy to correct it.

The prices and speeds are below...

Bronze 34.95 256kps X 128kps

Silver 43.95 768kps X 128kps

Gold 60.00 1.5mps 128kps

Add 10$ bucks to each package if you don't want TV service.......God knows its high for a cable company. I currently Have Comcast 1.5 X 256 and I only pay 40$ a month....Too bad I dont live in a Charter area or I would get our service for free

We have the Gold package from Charter and have had little to no problems. In my area we get around 2.1mbps after changing the QoS reservable bandwidth using GPEDIT.MSC, but like LostToys said they limit newsgroup binary files at 256kbps with only two connections. Sucks big time. (I suggest UseNetServer 2mbps with 6 connections)My neighbor went to cancel his service with Charter and they gave him $120 in coupon vochers. $10 to use each month for a year if he stayed. I tried to do the same but they offered me the Gold package at the price of the Silver which I jumped on.
