Anecdotal evidence.
I've had Maxtor, Samsung, WD, and Seagate...Never had an issue with any of them, and ALL drives are still working today.

In my experience, I've had more WD drives fail than Samsung, so...

I've had all of them, I've had at least one drive from all makes quit at some point in time. Just don't trust your important stuff on just one drive

Personal experience with hard drive failure is not indicative of total hard drive failure rate.

That being said, WD is much easier to RMA then Samsung.

Wow, great deal. I could use some extra storage for my video files. The drive is only 5400RPM, but that'll be ok for light media usage. Hopefully my pay check tomorrow is enough to get one of these; my current drive is almost full and I haven't seen a better deal than this on 1TB drives..

:EDIT: I'm reading though the reviews and there seems to be an above average failure rate for this drive. I'm not sure whether I'll purchase this or not now.

With the F3 1TB 7200rpm being had for $55 from a couple places recently (including newegg), this doesn't seem so hot unless you're purposely going for 5400rpm drives. Is the F2 EcoGreen also 500GB platters like the F3?

Picked up two. I'm putting them into a RAID enclosure, the slower RPM should keep the heat down.

Did a low level format, took 9 hours to fix the defective drive as per Samsung's tech dept. Picked up another one, can't go wrong for the price.
