If you attend one of the 22+ CalState universities you are eligible to purchase Microsoft software at a VASTLY discounted price. For instance at Fresno CalState, here's the list of software:
---PC---
Office XP ($20)
Office 2000 ($20)
Front Page 2002 ($20)
Windows XP ($20)
Visual Studio.net ($30)
---Mac---
Office 2001 ($20)
Office X ($20)
The CalState university system has a $8 million 4 year license agreement with MS that expires the end of this year (probably hopefully will be renewed). Its very generous, no time expiration limit on the software you purchase, no requirements to only use MS stuff. You can get it for multiple computers at home as well. Note that you do not get manuals as far as I know. I have not confirmed exactly what you get on all software titles, but you should get at least a CD and code with the office XP and win XP pro. If you have purchased through this agreement, feel free to share what you got for the money. I have not yet purchased software with this, but I plan to purchase a couple of copies of win XP pro and office XP for my personal computers at home in the next month or so.
Some details are availible on the fresno calstate webpage: http://www.csufresno.edu/ait/mssoft-s.htm
Further details on the entire calstate agreement here:

Keep in mind that last link hasn't been updated in a few years, so some of the info doesn't apply. Fortunately the agreement said that the calstate universities would be able to have the latest MS products/upgrades as they became availible.
Here's a link of all the campus's on a map. And yes, I do see Calstate LA and Calstate Fullerton. Each campus on the map is linked to thier homepage. http://www.calstate.edu/datastore/campus_map.shtml
And no, these are not supposed to be for resale, sorry
