FYI, you can sort by price to not have to 'look hard'. Cheapest I saw was for $680 for a Cel 2.3 Inspiron 1100. After coupon and taxes, came out to $609.

FYI. All of the Dell outlet coupon discount links I have seen have some type of referral in it. Do a google on "dell outlet coupon" and you will get a hit on many deal sites. TB and FW have the $100 off Inspiron and $75 off Dimension coupon links. Some use the linksynergy format that OP listed and some have a site jump link. I don't think you can find a "clean link" for these coupons. So don't be so hard on OP for the referral link.

You can find some good deals on refurb Dimension 2400s. I have picked up a few for >$200 during the past few days. You have to be persistant and FAST though.

I'd recommend leaving the warranty option as this is a notebook -- though odds are you'll get mail-in warranty service if you go with an Inspiron. Something always ends up breaking on a notebook if you actually use it as intended (i.e. you carry it around).

Well there seem to be a TON of them for $713, but I had to do a lot of waiting to find one at $683 and still haven't seen one for $630

In any case, is $650 delivered a good price for a Dell 2.3GHz Celeron? I could use a new laptop, but these things look heavy. Hot or not?

I don't think he's making money off it. Dell appears to only provide this discount if the customers came in through a referrer's link, which makes no sense to me... Dell now has to pay the referrer a commission and gives the customer a $100 discount?? It usually works the other way (no discount when a referrer links customer in) but oh well!

Anyway, I got a refurb Inspiron 8500 from Dell and as soon as I got it, I got tons of blue screen errors. I had to practically beg Dell to send a replacement (tech support told me to do all this stuff before they'd even consider it). I ended up returning it because I didn't want another refurb. Even my new Dell has a fan problem (tech support's going to send me a new one). I'd really recommend staying away from Dell refurb laptops.

Dell refurbs are always way overpriced. I can't understand how they sell anything. A P4-1700 with no monitor for $743? If you want a Dell you are much better off buying a new deal. I liked to shop off the small business section.
But now I'm building my own.

I've built almost all of my 7 machines at home but its getting difficult to justify the added expense. I bought one of those dell pe400sc as my new server and it only cost me $294. How can I build a 2.8ghz machine with 256mb ram and a 40GB hard drive for $294 on my own? I can't that's how. I think unless you want something very specific, ie a shuttle machine that makes expresso and does the dishes, its cheaper to just buy a prebuilt dell.

Thus begins another round of the home built vs. corporate build pc war!
