Yea, the WRX is quick for its class. But IMHO, I can't stand the looks(Really big headlights and overall design)

for $24k, I'd get a 300zx or supra.

Right now I drive a 85 S-10 i put in a 350 and a centerforce clutch and it blows any ricer around me out of the water. The other day i beat a guy in a civic that just blew 20 grand on a turbo a body kit and paint job and some other sh%t so far total including purchase price i only spent four grand on my S-10. plus resale is a lot better on the domestic cars than the ricers. I have a 67 camaro and if i stuck 10 grand into it i could sell it for 40 grand. lets se you do that with a civic plus i only paid 1,600 for my camaro. The only advantage that ricers have that i can see is there cost to insure vs. a camaro or other domestic sports car is a lot cheaper. Plus safety is by far better on american cars. I hit a ladie with my S-10 at 5mph (she slamed on her brakes after a stop sign stupid old people) it did 100 bucks worth of to my truck and 3 grand worth of damage to her car. Plus nothing sounds like a american v-8 there isn't a sweeter sound in the whole world. I'm working on a 86 Monte Carlo SS right now it's a rust free texas car i'm dropping in a 500 hp 600 ft/lb of tourqe chevy small block 406 with a 200 shot of NO2 that's Nitrous Oxide not NOS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NOS is a company not a product it stands for Nitrous Oxide Supply. I'm bolting up some 17's to a global west suspension kit and corvette brakes. The combo is guarented to pull over 1 g on the skid pad the total price will run around 12 grand. Now that's what i call a hot deal. This is assuming that you know how to work on your own car and do most of the work yourself like I do. Wow 14.8 quarter mile times is smoking NOT! By buddies 69 camaro runs 9's constantly a real nice looking car with a 468 big block sure it doesn't get 30mpg but who cares when you can lift the front tires off the ground.

All that speed and he still can't grasp the concept of proper English and grammar. I guess he left his education "in the dust."

Are you in junior high school? Because your grammar certainly reflects it.

BTW, your comment about sticking 10K into your 67 Camaro and being able to sell it for 40K. *cough*bull sh!t*cough*

In my opinion, the imports are better than American vehicles. American auto manufacturers build quality is no where near that of the imports. Durability is another factor. I have probably owned 8-10 cars already. I have had both American and Japanese vehicles. The Japanese vehicles were better. I own a 1994 300zx turbo and a 1986 Toyota Corolla. I drive my Corolla to work and use my 300zx for leisure. My Corolla has 205,000 miles and still has the original engine and trans in it. I have had to replace the rear struts and the drivers side axle. Parts cost was $135 for both and I did the labor myself. I have had the car for 2 years now and originally paid $100 for it. All my American vehicles were lucky to make it to 150,000 miles and even then ran like sh*t.

There is nothing wrong with American cars.
I have a 1989 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme that has 197k miles and I have had to do *NOTHING* to it in the past 3 years, and it has its original engine and tranny too. It runs just like new, not yet broken in. I do my own work too. Probably 5-years ago or so, it needed a water pump for $12. The alternators were also poorly designed, but it never left me stranded. They always supplied enough voltage to limp home, but the alternators were only $60 for one with lifetime warranty. The car needed NOTHING prior to 120k miles though. After that was when the alt went bad.
My wife has a 1988 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme almost identical to mine which has 187k miles. I have had to do nothing to it in the past 1-1/2 years. It runs perfect too on the original *never serviced* engine and transmission. I think last thing I had to do to it was put in a $30 ignition coil, no biggie.
I also have a '99 Chevy Silverado that now has 97k miles. It's a great truck, Car & Driver's truck of the year, and I can see why.

No, nothing wrong with American cars. Nothing wrong with imports either. My dad has a '92 Q45 and although it HAS left him stranded, it was just a water pump at 70k miles. I'm surprised the water pump crapped out that early, but I guess it's not that bad considering I've heard all sorts of new car warranty stories. My sister also has a '93 Accord which I think has been fairly good to her. I actually recommended she get the Accord based on reputation. Previously she had an '86 Saab 900 Turbo 5-spd which was a real saab story, I had to work on it constantly for her. Then she got an '89 Ford Taurus that had serious tranny and 3.8L engine problems. My other sister wanted a new (used) sporty car, and I found her a low-miles '98 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS which is a pretty good car despite its weak-ass engine.

Only thing I don't like about the imports is that the body doesn't seem to last as long. My sister's Accord already has rust HOLES in the rear 1/4-panel while my GM cars don't even have surface rust since GM started 2-sided galvanizing their body panels sometime in the late 80's. Although surely by now, even imports are 2-sided galvanized.

I wouldn't hesitate to buy American, European, or Japanese cars based on which one has the toys, looks, and performance that I desire. I would probably tend to lean towards domestics just because I do my own work, and parts for domestics are usually cheaper. Sometimes, much, much cheaper. A power window regulator for my truck is $58. I think the Infiniti dealer wanted something like $300 for a window regulator for my dad's Q45 when his power window quit working. His water pump was also around $70 while my Cutlass water pump was $12.

Subaru just needs to put a decent interior into it - it looks pretty cheap on the inside.

So... I can get a Toyota Supra for about $24K and still beat your Holy-o'Great-One WRX? And I still get a better look than that Subaru?
A car is a car, what is it about Hondas that people don't like much? Do you think YOUR favorite car is the best out of everything? My favorite ride is a Mustang and I do own one. But do I walk around the neighborhood and yelling: " Go mustang, hondas suck, yotas suck!" ??? I'd be pretty dumb to do that.

If you hadn't known, there is an incident of TurboCivicSI beat a C5 Corvette 2 out of 3 runs. This was going on everywhere on every forums. Do some research next time before you start yelling out YOUR subaru is Da Best!!!

Get your sorry @ss out of this thread! Body kits add air contours (aerodynamics) to the machine. And that's it! Nothing there is to flame about!

again.. its not something to be proud of or brag about when you v8 monsters beat lil 4 cylinder honda civics.. but i guarantee you.. there are a lot of those 4 banger cars that will prob leave u in the dust on a circuit/track.. where driver is everything.. and horsepower of the car really wont give you an advantage.. going fast straight is one thing.. going fast all over a track with twisties is another..

as far as the last reply.. yea of course you can get a supra tt.. but as far as NEW cars go.. in it's price range.. 22k.. the wrx is a car you get the most for ur money.. 227hp awd turbo 4 door.. everything standard.. momo steering wheel, shift knob.. 6 disc in dash.. etc.. i think thats why the wrx got so much praise from all automotive mags.. once again based on NEW cars..

yodayoda I hope you're not one of those guys that buys a Subaru WRX with an AUTOMATIC transmission....I actually rode in one of those and at first I thought it was a nice car...until I realized he was driving it with an automatic...

That just notches the cool factor down about 50% lol...I mean come on, you can't race if you can't change the damn gears yourself to control the acceleration. Jeez...

Also, what's wrong with a honda?! An S2000 would whip your WRX on a track anyday =) And a well tuned accord V6 could probably whip the WRX too(note the well tuned part lol). As long as it's on a track and not a dirt road the WRX would get schooled by the S2000 =)

S2000 0-60:5.5sec
WRX 0-60:6.3sec
S2000 1/4 mile:14.1 sec
WRX 1/4 mile:14.9 sec

=)

And the people ranting about their camaro drag-rockets being able to beat civics...ooooh yeah that's a real challenge when you have a 160HP advantage. On the other hand, I'll bet you the camaro couldn't corner at the same speeds a tuned import could, so if you took it to a tough track with plenty of curves, a good driver in the civic could dust the camaro or grand am, or whatever the hell you want.

And also, if you want to talk about lots of cheap horsepower or something, go get a used 300ZX fairlady twin turbo, drop in 2 bigger turbos, and you can jump the HP right on up to 550 without even blinking. A few minor upgrades to the other parts are going to be needed obviously, but shouldn't be anything too costly and the car will be able to smoke any damn camaro, track or just dragging. ESPECIALLY at the track. The fact that the 300ZX would be able to outcorner AND outrun the camaro would just let it annihilate any camaro.

Or you can be lazy and get someone's already souped up 300ZX TT and do none of the work yourself. Probably cheaper since resale on souped up cars isn't too great(you drop in $45K you get back $10 lol). Heck, you can probably get a TT with stage III everything for under $20K. A pretty sweet bargain if you just want to show up and humiliate someone who's been rubbing their camaro in your face =)
