Officemax 100pk still shows $39.99 to me, what's wrong?

Could be in-store only.

Why bother with Memorex if you can get 100-pk of Fuji at BB for $8.99, which are TY, the Rolls-Royce of CD-R according to most.

But watch out because some Fuji are not TY. Some Memorex are. They say look for the little screw down holder on top, and "made in Japan". No one got around to saying that yet

Actually.... those screw-on knobs aren't being used nearly as much anymore. Also, for the 100CD Memorex spindles a quick way to see if it's TY is to see if the outer plastic wrapping is clear with a cardboard Memorex thing inside it, or if it's a plastic Memorex wrapper on the outside. If it's the latter, it's probably Made in Japan, hence TY.

please anybody post info about
1. which of those cdr brands are generally the best quality
2. if you've bought some, how fast you're able to get on them

Anything "Made in Japan" is the best of the lot. This week your best bet is Best Buy's FujiFilm, $9 after rebates. Just make sure it says "Made in Japan" on the packaging.

I got some too, and I'm wondering about that original UPC thing too. Don't ask me if they're TYs or not, because I'm not sure how to tell. Mine do say that they're made in Japan though.

So is my safest bet to put the original UPC with the larger rebate, and hope the smaller one accepts a copy?

Someone just told me that cheap CD-R's go bad after 5 to 6 years because of the type of dye they utilize. So would it make sense to be interested in these companies like TY or is the time to live for cheap CD-R's greater than that?

i've had CD-Rs from fry's that go bad in less than a year, the topside literally flaked off, not much to do with the dye. also from fry's some GQ 2x/4x CD-RW discs that 2 years after putting data on their my cd drives couldn't read them at all. garbage grade.

Some memorex ones are TYs. I have a spindle of 100 that is TY. you have to look for the one that is the TY spindle. it looks like the fuji ones.

I just went by my local Staples in Boston and the Memorex that they have on this deal are all made in Taiwan. In the past this store has had Memorex made by TY. Just a head's up to others!
