This thread has become some what comical .. hehe.

Let's not forget that this is not a Cendyne drive, but an NEC ND-1300a (at least for me)

Yep.............Cendyne is "back in business" because of Genica's buyout of the company. Since this buyout happened in Dec. 2003, you'd think the twits spouting the company isn't offering warranty/support would actually read something before giving out misinformation so quickly.

can anybody please point out where Cendyne drive is it from those selection? thank you very much

Look at the bargain table as you walk into the OM.. these arent listed in their site, just simply "B&M + YMMV " deal.

I just came back from the Van Nuys store (L.A area) and as you enter go to the far right cashier, and behind there was a bin with atleast 3 Cendyne boxes and one looked like a DVD burner and the others just CD-R burners..

Cendyne was a bit tough to open but i did get in a dvd +r, but the alignment on the ide cable and dvd drive pinout is off a bit so had hard time getting the drive all the way in. There is a metal clip on the ide cable that keeps it from being flush.

NOW I HAVE A EXTERNAL DVD+R FOR $80 ($50 dvd+R and $30 for the external case + a internal liteon 52x cdrw)

I got the side strips and the top off the iomagic and will try to get the drive out and switch the ide cables. There is half inch room to accomadate the cendyne ide cable.

The drive screws are under the labels

Update: I swapped drive in the Iomagic and it works

NOW I HAVE A EXTERNAL DVD+R FOR $70 ($50 dvd+R and $20 for the external case + a internal Benq 48x cdrw)

Its so beautiful. I am chokin.... up.....

I noticed some differences in the packaging on the USB2 I/O magic drives. One is shrink wrapped and has a Nero logo on the front. Another is missing the shrink wrap and the Nero logo but has a white plastic carrying handle on the top of the box. The last has no shrink wrap, Nero logo or plastic handle.
No serial number on the outside of the box on any of them.
I bought them all ( 4 total) because for $19 they are too good to pass up. They were still marked with a clearence price of $99 on the shelf but rang up at $19. I plan on giving them to friends and family and will keep one for myself.

Does anyone have a clue as to which manufacture drive is inside based on these packaging differences? If not I guess I will tear them all apart and report back tonight when I get home.

FWIW my OM (in Utah) also had several internal I/O magic drives for $19 but I left them all for someone else.
Big thanks to Bad_Dude for the deal. Im stocked up on burners and enclosures for awhile now.

I think BenQ is the rebadge for the I/O Magic external, which is Acer. I bought two but the external enclosure could not be used for my NEC 1100A b/c of the back IDE port is shifted a little to the left thus won't fit the plug of the enclosure. If you got the Cendyne, it would fit b/c of the cable in the inside instead of the black plastic port.

My Cendyne was a rebadged Asus that I got a few months ago.

Took forever to detect if there was a CD in the drive during boot-up. No delays once detected.

No coasters burning though. but for $20, not bad.

Picked up one last night at the OM in Huntington Beach CA, after I bought mine the store manager told me hehad 5 left. In the store there is no clearance table the Burner was sitting on he shelf with a $175 tag. Cashier was shocked when it rang up $49.99. By the way when i got it home mine was a rebadged NEC.

You keep scoring up there in the valley!

My local OM had Nothing up front, or in back, or on the shelf.

You can claim the warranty from the manufacturer that Cendyne used to rebadge their drives. I did it with a Samsung DVDrom.

I think all drives take a long time to boot if there's a CD in it when booting. The time it takes for detecting the CD first.
