non-removable vs removable smartmedia (or compactflash) flash memory cards, which means the ixla cam can't be upgraded to hold more memory (or pictures).

If you wait til after x-mas, kodak and fuji and most other manufacturers will come out with 1Megapixel digicams for 220 or less that will be decent, I'd hold out for those if you can.

This is a pretty good deal. 640x480 and flash, besides USB connectivity. Big difference between $50 and $220 stonerdave. But if you have $200 or so to spend, I would wait too.

I have a 640X480 camera and it is crap. It was so bad that we went out and bought a Kodak DC240. It is better than nothing, but to get a good picture you really need on that does a higher resolution (1280 X 960). Good luck.

whoa that's a great camera for webpage or e-mail use, those photos are excellent!!
SAMPLE PICTURE 1
SAMPLE PICTURE 2
SAMPLE PICTURE 3

My old camera (before the Canon S10) was a Polaroid Fun! Flash 640x480, and the pictures didn't look anywhere near that great.

this would be the perfect camera for a son/daughter or younger sibling begging for a digital camera.

Alright, here's what I consider the "real specs" to be:
 • 640x480 resolution
 • 2megs built in memory, should hold about 12 640x480 images
 • great picture quality for a 640x480 camera
 • USB port!! <-------- WOW!

all for only $50!

This is a HOT DEAL for those that don't use a camera enough to justify spending $250 for it, perfect for a few family outings, parties ($50 broken ain't a big deal, $250 is something to cry about), or auctions yeah you can't print great photos with this camera but how often are you really gonna print them anyway? I usually e-mail my photos to friends and family, or put them on a website.

if i would have heard about this deal before the S10, i wouldn't have bought the S10 at all.

What do you mean by "real specs"?
It says that it can store 30 photos...
but is the reality different? Why?
Isn't it fraudulent then?

I got mine today...

the camera looks different on the beyond.com website...
it uses 4 AA batteries so there's an ugly bulge on one side..
the website has a slick looking camera... deceptive marketing

easy to install..
It doesn't handle poor lighting very well..

anyone else got theirs yet?

No drivers for Win2K

Very buggy with win98. Memory hogger!!

Stay away from IXla-no meaningful help online.:|

Got both of mine in 3 days of ordering (ordered sun night, got it wed). Seems cool. Installed software. Installed win2k drivers. Plugged in and it installed itself fine. However, I can't get into the Explorer program that's supposed to let u see thumbnails of pics taken. Anybody else figure out how to download from the camera in win2k?

I've got a big bulge...ERR
Does it really matter how the camera looks? It doesn't take pictures of itself and $50 isn't bad for a decent digital camera. It's tempting but lack of Win2k support and higher resolutions is the deciding factor for me.

My Dad got his on Wednesday. He did his own install with win 98SE and it went perfect he said. The pictures he has sent me looked super for $49.

Yeah, the bulge matters to me..
'cos I bought it thinking it looks good.. just like the website ;(

Anyone knows of any other software that can import the photos from the camera? Can Adobe do it?

What OS's are you guys using? Win2k load drivers fine. But like hedon said, I need something that gets the pics.

I hate this camera. First, no win2k support. 2nd...the bulge...it's not so bad, but i'm pissed cuz it's not the same as the web site. 3rd, it can't handle bright or dark stuff. If I'm sitting at my desk w/my desk lamp on and I take a pic of my desk, it's bright as heck (no flash). Then I take a pic of my kitchen w/only flourescent light on and it's dark as heck. I try using the flash in the kitchen and the pics come out even darker! My old school 320x128 camera does a better job w/lighting.
I bought 2. I'm gonna flat out tell them to return the 1 that I haven't opened yet and get credit back to my account. Then ask them to exchange the opened one cuz it's dark as heck w/the flash. I hope this works. This camera sucks. Don't get it.
