Cheap Dreamcast Games at Target

I'll post this here too. This is a RUMOR, and is not confirmed by Sega. The rumor originated from Nihon Keizai Shimbun, which is a Japanese periodical. The rest of the agencies have latched on to it like wild dogs. Sega's current stance is the same as in October: "We will develop titles for other systems, but there are no plans to eliminate the Dreamcast." Save the rumormill for when Sega says it.

Sorry Easy, but this rumor isn't true, here is what Sega had to say about the matter:

"Blah, blah, blah, more of the same thing. Our official stance is not to comment on rumors, but I will point out that these same rumors (we're getting bought by Nintendo, we're getting out of the hardware business, we're going multiplatform) have been floating around for AGES. I think it's all a cover-up to hide our real plans- it's all about NUON. I look forward to talking to you again next time the sky is falling."

What I don't get is why magazines etc. insist on trying to ruin the Dreamcast?! Maybe Sony is paying them because everyone likes the Dreamcast more than the PS2. It wouldn't surprise me one bit, those bastards.

yep, it's just a rumor... like snk leaving america, certain div being absorbed by capcom, etc. where there's smoke, there's fire. and this newspaper is not the japanese natl enquirer. other trade rags are latching onto it because this is very likely.

despite it all, rumor or no rumor, it damages people's perception of the condition of Sega...there losses are real, as will be there loss as far as future sales based on these rumors. sad...i love my dc but it might be following in it's predecessors footsteps at least it seems that sw will continued to be developed...for now anyways.

Hi. The DC is not dying at all. If SEGA dies, the whole world of "console" videogames dies. They bring out the innovation in videogames. If the system indeed died, I would be happy with my 30+ legal games that I bought Import/Domestic. Games like Samba De Amigo, Daytona USA, Guilty Gear X, F355, Grandia II, Skies of Arcadia, PSO is a good enough collection of games to die by. Right now the Japanese market of SEGA is dying and that's not clearly the case in the US. To me it seems that the Japanese gamers are somehow jaded by their choice of games since they camp and wait in line for days when Square releases a NEW Final Fantasy. Each FF game gets worse and worse in each installment.

Just remember, it's all for the love of the games. Whether you own this system or that, the one's that bring you the most fun are the one's to keep. Ask me to reccomend games if u are new...

Rumor now is that the Dreamcast chip will be intergrated into the XBOX. Microsoft gets tons of games ready to play on thier new system right out of the box, Sega Lives on!!

Actually, if you bothered to do any research, both Microsoft and Sega vehemently DENIED that rumor. As nice as that would be it's not going to happen. The DC chipset WILL be integrated into third party set top boxes in the future however..

Well, what Microsoft denied was including any other chipsets other than the processor and the two Nvidia chips, but they didn't say you wouldn't be able to play DC games on the XBox. Perhaps with some out-of-the-box emulation? Wishful thinking.

Today, my local Target (New Britain, CT) had a big display of DreamCast consoles set up (not behind glass as they usually are), with a shelf card outlining their price adjustment/return policy smack in the middle of it all. Think they know something we don't?

Also, sitting there very innocuously about half-way back in the little glass-shielded cubby-hole below the PS2 game cartridges was a PS2 console. Kind of funny that just a month ago, I never would have seen that pretty blue box sitting there at 11:00 AM!

Just picked up Shenmue and Q3A. Will go back within the next 14 days to get an adjustment. Now all I gotta get is the broadband adapter.

Just saw their Sales Ad tomorrow...

here are the additional games included in the sale:
Royal Rumble and Tomb Raider Chronicles for Sega; and Zena for Nintendo(LOL)...

not as great as Shenmue which I will definitely get early tomorrow morning.

Hi. Remember, you can take the Target ad to any store like Electronic's Boutique, Circuit City to price match since they always seem to have those game in stock. I highly reccomend Jet Grind Radio to any self respecting video game player. The cell-shading is a great style and you can't beat J-POP. Also NBA2K1 is a great deal, you can play as Magic, Bird or Jordan on the court or off in the playground courts...

i think making dreamcast emulator for xbox is not that hard since our beloved DC cpu is designed to be compatible with Windows CE (so does most of DC games i assume). the architechture won't be much different since xbox uses pentium III processor.

what happens to bleem for dreamcast? i can't wait to play my PS one game on my DC. last i heard it is suppose to be out feb 7.
