I fix computers for a living, I don't have a shop but trying to figure out the best ways to market myself has always been something that keeps me changing my mind. I went to all the liquor stores and small businesses and told them who I was and asked if I could put out some advertising. Magnets worked very well, they weren't super cheap but not really too expensive either. I started out with 250, they definitely got me more calls than my business cards. And a bunch of people have told me how much they like my business cards. Plus the magnets stay on the fridge so when people want to call you they have your info. I can't count how many have told me "oh I needed viruses cleaned off my laptop but I couldn't find the business card you gave me. So I called Geek Squad" People tend to throw business cards away, or misplace them but they keep the magnets and always know where they're at. Door hangers are another not too expensive thing that works semi well. I ordered 500 and paid some 8 year old kids $10 each to go around and hang them on all the doors in their neighborhood. I only ended up getting a few calls, but the money I made from the calls paid for the hangers x2, and I've gotten some word of mouth business from these people telling their friends.
I personally like the yellow on the flyer, it makes it stick out, my business card is orange + vertical with rounded corners, so they tend to really stands out. Which is never a bad thing, especially if you have them in locations where other people have their flyers too like I do.
