The cheapest I found was on Provantage for $19..... Anyone else knows what other places have this Epson Original Ink Carts. Preferably original ones ? Any ideas ? I thought I shared this since I know many people got this printer deal. What about generics... which brand is the best. Pls provide Links. The Originals cost more than the printer itself for both..... I know many of you gots got into this 880 Deal.... printer is nice but carts are not.

Try 4ink. I got two black ink carts and 2 color cards for the grand total of $28.17 after shipping. They have unbearably low prices, along with 2 for one sales, and 20-30% off coupons! The only draw back is that these carts are NOT manufactured by Epson, but they claim to perform as well or better than Epson carts. At these prices, I figured why not take a little risk?

I called their offices in TX the day I found their pages, and chatted for a few minutes w/ one of their sales ppl, and they seemed courteous and knowledgeable enough as well.

At any rate, I'd love it if someone else could pick up a few of these carts and try them out (I've still got plenty of ink left from the factory carts that came w/ the printer) so I can figure out whether I'm sitting on a gold mine, or just a few dud carts.

I used to have an Epson Photo 700+ they print excellent pictures.... used a few generics and the printer got bad and the quality was not good as well... my 2cts. Anyone with good experiences with some generics pls help as I believe many antechers... got this printer as well. The original inks are EXPENSIVE !!! prolly cost more than the printer itself... for both of them.

I have bought from extracartridges several times. and have found them the least expensive.

I have paid as little as $5 for the color cartridge and $3 for the black.

I think shipping was a flat amount, so I buy a bunch. Last month I bought 4 color and 4 black carts and paid less than $40 shipped.

Hope this helps

FWIW, I tried 3 or 4 kinds of generic ink and now i hate it. they produced unreliable quality in my HP and Canon (*the* worst). :disgust: It's only the 'original' for me.

Does anyone know if the cartridges for the 860 work in the 880? thanks

edit: I should have checked this myself. No, they don't use the same ones! I'm still using the 860 i got on a deal here and now need to put some new cartridges in (been using the ones that came with it til now). Guess i'll get some ink for it and the 880 (got this deal here too and the printer is still sealed in the box!).

IMHO, the generics print quality compares favorably to original.

Anyone have any problems with generic Ink clogging up their printers nozzles?

I have used one of those "refill in a bottle" type of ink refills that you transfer with a syringe, and although it seemed to work ok for the first refill, after refilling the second time...one of the nozzles clogged up completely a week or so later (the black nozzle). I then bought a brand new 'official' Epson black ink cart hoping that would fix it, but it was a waste, nozzle still clogged. (I guess inkjet nozzle/printhead is separate from the cart).

I was wondering, what the heck do they put in these generic carts (and refills) that make them clog nozzles...some sort of ink dye powder and some tap water? lol. How do you tell the difference in Ink quality of the various generic injet carts.

Anyhow, my epson 600 is dead, but thanks to AndTch member Athena I replaced it with the Epson 880 at a great price. woohoo!

So I am a bit wary of using generic carts on my new 880. Anyone have any links for great deals on official carts? And perhaps a 'How-To' article on unclogging an epson inkjet nozzle?

Why not just go to egay & buy some ink there? Buy only generic carts, nopt refill kits, because they suck!!

HP? Only buy the original for those because of the print heads being built-in. As far as generic cartridges go, I've picked up 4 of them at a time (2 color / 2 black) at computer shows for about $18. The quality when printing text and graphics has been quite good. I haven't printed photos so I can't vouch for them in that area.

Also, Epson printers have a general tendancy to clog when the printer is not being used. Ensure that you use your printer at least once per week to keep the black and colored ink flowing.

If you have clogged ink nozzles on your Epson, head to Google (Deja.com) and search for "Epson" and "Windex". Seriously, there is a cleaning method that involves a few drops of Windex which works most of the time for cleaning out a print head.

I'm still waiting for the day when I become a millionaire - that is when I'll buy *real* ink cartridges from the manufacturer.

I usually just print up receipts and such. I rarely print out greeting cards. So, I don't mind that the print quality on generic ink is not up to par.

If you have a local Costco B&M, they sell two-packs of both the color and the black carts for the 880 for (as far as I remember) about $34 each two-pack. These are the original Epson carts. I think they also sell carts for the 777 and some HP models.

Hope this helps.

Cool, thanks for the heads up. It's usually the ink replacements that get costly for printers. I got a good deal on the 880 a while back, but the ink pricing is steep for original carts.

http://www.megatoners.com/index.html I have used dirt cheap Epson compatible with my Epson 740 and to my eye, they are as good as regular Epson ink. I print lots of photos on coated paper and this ink looks great. I haven't tried 880 cartridges, but I am willing to bet they are equally good. These are less than 1/4 the cost of Epson brand.
