Hello All,
This is my first post on Anandtech after lurking for several years now.
1) Please take it easy on me as I have seen how harsh some of you guys can be. This is a discussion board; no need to go to arms over some topics.
2) Regarding this conesc hosting, or any other hosting provider for that matter:
If you tracert them, I resolve to : sdsl-64-139-24-11.dsl.den.megapath.net. Hmmmm... anyone else get similar results? Also, there is no contact information, ALWAYS a bad sign. Listen, if you don't learn from the Cyberwings fiasco (which has provided colleagues and I MANY hours of entertainment), you are destined to play craps with $5 and $10 hosts. In the long run, including the headache, you are much better off going to a real service provider for reasonable pricing (Heck, it might even end up cheaper in the long run).
Our company owns an average sized web hosting business and we colocate with Exodus, Qwest and MFN. This is not cheap, and we crunched the numbers around the office. Bottom line : It is damn near impossible to match pricing even remotely with these guys posting on AT. But you get what you pay for and remember if it sounds too good to be true. . .
For those who are asking what that tracert means : It looks like an DSL line. Most probably in some's office or home-office. Second, the NS records (DNS Servers; you require two by ICANN standards) are not RFC compliant. They sit only one IP Address apart from each other. (They should be on two different networks & locations). Furthermore, their secondary DNS server, at the time of this posting, is not even up. Caveat Emptor.
3) Thanks for all the great deals over the years (especially for the Gateway 6400s).
Enjoy and take it easy.
