Sadly, some poor sap will take the plunge and then post a big "Wahhh... I got trolled" thread in 3 weeks. It's an endless cycle of stupidity for some people.

Maybe they just read this article and are planning ahead:

http://www.nandotimes.com/technology/story/271705p-2491767c.html

""I'd say it's extremely likely in 2002" that prices will drop, said P.J. McNealy, senior analyst at Gartner Inc., a market research firm in San Jose, California. "That's been the historical pattern in this industry."

Microsoft's Xbox and Sony's PlayStation 2 are priced at $299, but many in the industry speculate that their prices will drop to match Nintendo's GameCube, which is selling for $199.""

That or they're from the future... <play X-files theme>

But, if you insist you can keep going with your "scam" theory...

<< Why not PM it with Circuit City. I think CC recently changed their PM policy for online PMs >>

thats not a bad idea. i went to the CC website but they didnt say anything about pricematching online purchases. i even called up the B&M and they said that they only PM local B&M stores. if anyone has the new Circuit City pricematching policy in documentation, can you send it to me so i can try to pricematch a PS2 ?

thanks

I doubt they will drop the price of a Xbox much... i guess cost to make one is quite high, from what people tell me they cost more to make than what they sell it for and hope to make money of games and acessories. Then again, usually I get my info during drunken conversations. So, we'll see what happens.

ugh, they say "absolutely" too much, I'm not sure if the Circuit City price match will work, CC sells core systems not the packages like these guys do. Do keep us updated though.

Yea, I heard that too, either in print or on a TV program like Extended Play or The Screen Savers, can't remember which. At any rate, I think that is a pretty reliable bit of info. I think they stated that it cost them $100 more to make each unit than what they were selling them for.</FONT>

I dont think that amazon.com pricematches. Does anyone know of any stores that will PM internet sites?

i clicked on the Buy It link and got this notice at the bottom part....

Thanks to all our customers for making us such a success, at the present time we will not be processing any more orders as we're temporarily out- of-stock. Please check back often to see when we have the items in stock again.
For all those customer's who have placed their orders before this notice we'll try and accomodate your orders. For all those people who have already paid for their items, your products were reserrved before your payment was processed and will be shipped out to you. This notice does nto affect your order.

Thanks again!

They are using western union to transfer money...

I don't know. For how large of a corporation they say they are, I find it hard to believe that ran out of stock. Then again, if the word got out around the net (which it seems it has) then a lot of stupid people jumped onto this without weighing the risks involved. So I guess it would be possible, then again, they may have added that just to appear a little more legit so when they "get them back in stock" more people will feel comfortable ordering from them.

One other note, a new user over at the hardforum, posted a repost of this deal. He also went into the other 5 page long thread, and claims it is legit as he recieved his xbox and his friend just ordered one. Kind of odd, he had just registered in feb, around the same time this popped up, and now he is defending it.

Does anyone here have a contact with sony or microsoft who can help verify this and possibly get the place shutdown if it's a scam?

hmm here's what they are saying. M$ loses ~$100 per xbox they make. So if we buy 10,000 xboxes from m$, b/c we buy so many and are from the big market of uzbekastan, m$ will gladly lose more money on each xbox. Great math. I think if anyone would get a volume discount it would be wal-mart

I honestly think that there's some real PMing possibilities here. Maybe at Circuit City, maybe Staples?

Why do people insist on being so stupid? This thread probably shouldn't have been posted in the first place. Hey guys, I'm a scam, all your $$$ are belong to me. PM for my mailing address or paypal me. I will "send" you your "ps2" and "xbox" asap. Remember that GPS thread? Some guy ordered like 7 laptops and never got them duh? Gawd, you guys might as well donate it to your local charity.

Edit: Need I remind you... Do not be this dumb whore: "Um.. I ordered 7 laptops from GPS.. If I don't get them.. I say we band together and destroy GPS along with that annoying hoe that you get when you call. She is so stupid and can't do a damn thing." from this thread Public humiliation at it's finest... If you guys don't learn from this maybe the mods should sticky a thread entitled "LIST OF DUMB PEOPLE, ASK THEM FOR YOUR CC INFO"
