Got a two of them, 290 crossfire, for 151 (GBP) shipped to the US. I think it is still a good price, even with the release of the 390x.

When you select shipping worldwide, it removes the VAT dropping the price to 65 pounds. This would make it almost as fast as a reference 290X for a price of ~$103 USD+shipping. Plus, a couple users with XFX R9 290s have unlocked them to XFX versions.

Sad I missed this deal. 103 dollars for a decently fast 980mhz 290 with a chance to get really lucky and unlock an artificially crippled 290 back to a 290x. I woulda paid 103 for one of these to upgrade my pc from 5870 to r9 290 even tho I'm building a new pc for skylake-e I'll still have this pc as well so I guess it will help out when I game with friends that come over. But the deal no longer exists.

Ya, you are right that just because they are listed at $300 CDN, doesn't mean they are selling at those prices. Still, our prices after tax for current gen cards haven't fallen as much in relation to the US market. Even relative to what prices NCIX and Newegg.ca sold their R9 290/290X cards 3-6 months ago, it seems prices have increased now. I presume because inventory is almost non-existent.

So many people ordered the cards from reddit.

Not sure if they'll honour the price as too many of the users on reddit contacted customer service which might have set off red flags that there is a price mistakes. Although customer service reps from Amazon UK kept suggesting the order will go through.

haha. There is actually a member with username "rollo" registered at www.bit-tech.net and from his comments he is very pro NV and has only purchased NV cards all his life. But that user's tone is a lot more toned down compared to the AT version. He regularly posts on that website though if you read their GPU reviews.
