I have a question. My aunt paid some kid to fix her computer (which required a reformat/re-install). It appears said kid put XP corporate on it with a non-genuine key. Is it possible for her to get legit without reformating/re-installing again? I told her about the XP home upgrade at BB for $60 and she wants to do that if possible. But I heard that home/pro keys wont work on corporate editions. Is this true? Can she buy the xp home upgrade and use the key to make her pc okay again?
My guess is that she will have to re-install with the new home upgrade disk. Which means she will want me to do it for free.
Edit: I have been PM'ed... looks like I heard right.
what operating system did she have before the "fix" ?
Either 98se or ME, I can't remember. My guess is she never gave the kid her install disks and he just used what he had. I remember back when it happened too..... the punk did abosultely nothing besides wipe it and install an illegal operating system. No updates, not even SP1. He didn't even install the audio drivers. It was probably the easiest money that kid ever made. It just makes me realize how many people out there (like my aunt and her kids) have no idea how to work with computers, and how many are being ripped off.
