As a teen it won't be that cheap to even insure the crappiest vehicles. I'd consider Corollas or Civics for low rates.

Don't cheap out on a car to just lower the car insurance. Get your daughter a nice safe vehicle. If you just get liability ( car paid in full) I don't think insuring any car will be too steep. My vote is for a 94-96 accord.

But won't lincoln be more expensive to maintain? I mean costlier parts (its a lincoln) etc and I am betting he doesn't want that either.

i am planning on getting an old pickup truck for my daughter to drive when she starts in 3 years

that'll be 2009 when she gets her license, so i'll get a late '90s F150 or chevy whatever

i don't know if insurance will be cheap, but that is my plan

Large, old & slow = safe & relativly cheap to insure, plus its harder for an inexperienced driver to get in trouble with one ... gonna be expensive for a teenager no matter how you slice it though.

Probably a pick up truck (which most girls won't like) otherwise a corolla or civic. Use the discounts if applicable - academic discount and defensive driving course discount.

For the most part but sporty cars, trucks, suvs, and 4x4 all can add a little onto the base cost.

Get some used Honda/Toyota, you can find plenty of decent ones for 2k, however there wont be a point in insuring them...

EDIT - Pics of your daughter

You could probably ask an insurance agent for help with this, they have entire lists of this kind of information and everything's already calculated.

Although you should really think more about the safety rating of a car than how cheap it is to insure. You don't want your daughter driving a death trap just because you save $50 every 6 months.

Liability is a huge portion of it, which won't really change based on the vehicle unless you got her an enzo. And make sure you have enough liability coverage, like 250/500 with 2mill umbrella.

My insurance company blows, they have me listed (Im 20) as the primary driver on my mom's 2005 Honda Accord so they can make more money off us. We have 4 cars and the one i mostly drive is a 97 Ford Pickup...But they still keep me on the Accord...

So if they have her as the primary driver on one of your cars, they might just leave her...

Dunno if that factors into your policy (or this thread) at all, but im just throwin in my $.02
