Quite a few GeForce MX's and low end Radeon cards have 2 outputs. About $40 should secure a nice shiny new graphics card to handle dual displays.
For top quality dual or even triple displays Matrox cards a worth a look although they are a bit more expensive than the mainstream cards.

Just grab a GF4 from the FS/FT forums (I snagged a 64MB Ti4200 for $20 :Q)
Once OC'ed a little, lots more powerful than a Radeon 7000, 9200, even 9600
(at least in <= DX8 games)

I'd go with ATI, since low-end NVidia solutions based on their older chips tended to have an unfortunate track record of poor analog VGA signal quality.

Radeon 7000 are still being made, for exactly this purpose. For PCIE, it'd have to be an X300SE.

I agree, having and built PC's with multiple GF2, 3, 4 series cards and the whole gamut of ATI cards, that ATI cards are much safer for getting very good 2d quality (basically, they all look great).

The Geforce 2 GTS was infamously bad for text/2d, the GF3 wasn't really any better. The GeForce 4 was a big improvement and many cards were quite sharp with text.

A GF4 Ti 64MB from FS/FT would be an excellent choice, since you can get them so cheap. Other great choice if you can find them is a dual display ATI Radeon 8500/9000/9100. If you check my signature, you will see that I've put 8500's in all of my family's PC's because the text on those cards is basically as good as it gets. That's kind of my little secret for people who don't play games .

I agree with the previous post who said, "A GF4 Ti 64MB from FS/FT would be an excellent choice", although I don't know what FS/FT means.

Here's a card that would also probably be a good choice, although maybe a little higher priced than a GF4 Ti 64MB: PNY Verto GeForce FX 5500 / 128MB DDR / AGP 8X / Dual VGA / TV Out / Video Card

In my case, I had an AGP card that only supported monitor, so I installed a PCI card to support a second monitor. Both are nVidia; the AGP is a Ti 4200; PCI, GeForce2 MX400 with 64MB. Works fine.

Thanks. I agree that GeForce4 MX440 would be a good low-cost option. I've used an MX440 in the past. My son has one in his computer.
