Cheapest method to ship a bunch of boxes overseas (Japan)

Do you have to air them(im assuming yes since prices quoted are obviously air freight)

If not though look into surface freight prices they will be alot lower.

And you will save even more money if you have a broker to handle the customs paperwork.

i shipped 5 large boxes and two paintings across the country via ups and it cost $750, to ship to japan would probably cost many times that. id call up the ex and offer her a couple thousand dollars cash to not make you ship it all. a lot of personal stuff would be cheaper to buy again new than to ship

That was explored and it's a combination of her both wanting everything she owns as well as punishing me financially a bit.

Her ticket to Japan I had found for $610 on US Airways, she insisted on using their partner JAL at $1400 for the same type of plane and flight times or she wasn't going to leave.

I asked the guys in the office, so they suggest using freight forwarder, basically they're small brokers that sells space in containers.. i dont know where you are but if you're in the east coast, there's a bunch in newark nj
