my friend has the santa cruz and it does not have full winxp support. I would not get it at least until it has that. also i think santa cruz is 4.1 not 5.1, correct me if i am wrong

The extigy is not as good as teh audigy. The extigy uses a usb interface which has bandwidth than a PCI bus. Because of this, it can get bogged down at times. Also, it's not quite as powerful as teh Audigy from what I've read. It's mostly geared towards a highend laptop solution. and Audigy would be a better buy. my 2 cents

What's doesn't work with his card? I have XP and a Santa Cruz and everything is hunky dory.

I'm going back and forth between the Extigy and Audigy. Ultimately, for what I want it for, the Audigy EX is the best for me (I think).

I'm an amateur muscian and want a decent setup for recording guitar into my computer. My current soundcard (TB Montego) is adequate for getting sound into the computer but by having to use adapters(1/4" to 1/8") to get it into the soundcard, I must be losing something soundwise. Although, having just checked my guitar processor, I do have an s/pdif connection on it. This could open up some other possibilities.
