Damn, I didn't know parrots lived so long.
i've had a grey for around 17 years, now. Very smart, perpetually locked into a 3 year old childs mind set LOL. The one I got was shipped back and forth between divorcing owners, so he never had a stable home. He's a little on the " don't touch me" side, but we get along great. As far as vocabulary, yeah, he's amazing. What's funny is, you'll try to repeat something for him to pick up, for months, and he'll never say it once: however sometimes he'll hear a noise once, and you'll hear it 40 times a day for 2 years LOL. Damn, them love mimicking noises- mine just sees me going near the refrigerator, and I get the following: tinkling noise of ice cubes in a glass, pop top noise of opening a can od sode, and finally the burble noise of pouring into a glass.
It's insane to think that if I got one now, the Parrot could potentially outlive me.
they are items you include in your tomb.

What are a of the country do you live in? What do they run now?
I have always wanted an African Grey ... they are not too flashy, and vocabulary off the charts. The idea of having an animal that could outlive me has its merits. Losing a pet is so tough, and with dogs we are guaranteed to go through it every xx years.
With birds, I worry about good vet care, climate, disease and accidents.
Also, birds crap every 20 mins like clockwork ...
Congrats OP!

That bird would be in my cat's mouth. She has killed quite a few birds, a number of mice, and even killed 2 young rabbits (fuzzy baby bunnies?).
