I'd say this is a bragging post in disguise. Yeah that's a heck of OC and temps look just right. Where is your memory at? (frequency/timing)

Nahh not trying to brag at all honestly. I'm guessing anyone with a E6400 and this mobo could get these speeds. Now if I could get 3.6Ghz-4.0Ghz, then that would be impressive. You have a good overclock with what you have and excellent timings. I may be able to squeeze more out of mine tho. I just "set it, and forget it" (hate that commercial!) one time, the first time, and never touched it after that.

wow nice OC on such low voltage. How come your scythe keeps your CPU so hot? I have the infinity and I have
25*C idle with a 6700 @ 3.5 w/ 1.55 volts
45*C load

It's still impressive in that you're still @stock Vcore. I need to give 1.45V for 3.2GHz (P5W-DH). BTW that RAM should do DDR2-800/3-3-3 @2.2~2.3V

Good question and I may have the answer. When installing the SOB it was horribly cramped on my fat aths fingers. I know the top right and the bottom clips are secure but the top teft one was unbelievably hard to connect. Whenever I would pull up on it it would release. I've heard people say all you do is push to get it to connect, but in my experience that didnt work, I had to push then twist.

With all that being said, and seeing your low temps, I'm going to have to do what I didn't want to do. Pull out the damned motherboard and install the HSF that way. I am a little concerned with being able to screw in the motherboard to the standoff's with that big aths Scythe tho

Are we in conclusion saying that CoreTemp is the most accurate?

Well in BIOS I have the Vcore set at 1.337, it shows differently in windows (Vdrop or Vdroop?). I'm gonna try to get better timings and OC out of it soon, probobly in the next couple days. Once I reseat this HSF

Intel put on-chip digital temperature sensor in Core 2 Duo, and CoreTemp reads the value reported by it. (Search google with "On-chip digital sensor","Core 2 Duo","On-chip temperature monitor", etc. I forgot the exact search terms I used but the keyword here is 'on-chip') IIRC, Intel itself said this digital sensor is more accurate than thermal diodes embedded on a motherboard's PCB/circuits.

On the other hand, one need not worry because her/his temp reading by CoreTemp isn't under 40C. It's natural to see a higher temp on the chip itself instead of somewhere else on the motherboard.

Nice OC! I guess I'm not too shabby with my results here, although 2 degrees hotter and higher vcore(yeah I set it ,and forgot it as well).

Have you tried going higher? With your Scythe Infinity I'm sure you can get a better result than me.

BTW, Which utlity are you using to monitor those temps?

No consensus on that. Those with high temps discount CoreTemp, and those with ridiculously low readings rave about it.

It is obviously inaccurate with some motherboards...

PC Probe II, CoreTemp and Asus AI to monitor temps, voltages. Haven't tried higher yet, but will soon.

sorry, miscommunication there, what I meant was:

which utility is that that is showing a bar of Vcore and Temps on the screenshot you posted? Is that PC PRobe II?

I am running my E6300 @ 3.5GHz (500MHz FSB). SP2004 stable 21hours.

http://www.smokedog.org/500MHz/oc.html

Can easily go higher with some PC8500 memory.

P.S.
Idle temp 51c and load temp 67c (as reported by CoreTemp which is approx 10c higher than Speed Fan reports). The load temps were after 21 hours of SP2004.

I assume the CoreTemp reported temps are acceptable since the proc has a TCaseMax of 85c.

Anyway after aprox 1 month running at 3.5GHz 24/7 I have not had one issue. Yay!

FYI:
At 3.2 on my 6300 I was running stock voltage. It was going past 3.2 that required bumps in voltage.

Dude that's a nice OC. I want to lap my CPU when I reseat the HSF in a couple days, so I'll dig for more OC then.

Dexion, I've tried to run two instances of Prime95, but when I edit the target line, it always says "Invalid" something or other. Is there any way you could help me with that?

Thank you for your time

Make sure there is no space between the dash(-) and the A0 or A1.

EX:C:\Prime95\PRIME95.EXE -A0

PC Surgeon, the Temps and voltage readings do look fine.

I am running a E6300 @ 3.33, it runs a bit cooler than that though. At the moment Speedfan is 45-50c under dual-prime95 load, CoreTemp is about 55-60c after 4+ hours of load, with a Scythe Ninja. Vcore is at 1.365v. Currently playing with Vista RC1 x64 on that rig, but none of these programs work so the numbers are the general range from when XP was on it.

Hey Das, I need to talk with you...

Well I tried that. Here's my example:

"C:\Program Files\Prime95\Prime95.exe -A1"

and...

"C:\Program Files\Prime95\Prime95.exe-A1"

Neither of which work.

Either there is something wrong with it or I'm too noobish!

Man, I should have downgraded to a 6300 and gotten the DQ6 or DS3!

When you factor in the superb overclock'ability, you really can't beat the price to performance of the E6300. This is by far one of the best systems I have ever built.

P.S.
I too wet my pants when I discovered how easy the OC was.
