Finally a Ron Paul story made it to the front page of Digg! They've been so far all censored... one had 1,000+ diggs and was removed from the front page. CNN has a video clip as well on YouTube.

People are noticing!

EDIT: Make that 3,000+ diggs!

Don't worry, it wasn't.

What is your problem really?

He's right, Ron Paul isn't a Republican by today's standards. Today's standards are neoconservatives as Republicans, nothing more. Prior to 2000, though, Paul is definitely a Republican, a very conservative one.

Btw, I'm close to making up my mind on a presidential vote, and Paul is in the lead. Can't bring myself to vote for the other half-conservatives in the field. If McCain weren't so staunchly pro-war I'd probably vote for him, though.

Actually, I don't see McCain with a cowboy foreign policy. He's been through the hell, so he knows what it is like. Not sure that I would vote for him though, but likely, no one is going to get the chance to anyway.

Not bad fund raising for a canditate who places in the low single digits in most of the polls.

CNN link Anyone else think his picture on CNN looks like a time bomb?

I like McCain personally and I don't put him in the same category as the rest of the Neo-cons. I just happen to think he is wrong on many issues. Aside from that I have a great deal of respect for the man.

raises some serious questions to how valid those polls are.

Interesting note on one of the websites: Paul is the only GOP candidate to have raised more money in the 3rd quarter than in the second, and he's already raised more so far in the 4th quarter than he did in the 3rd!

Plus, all this money is from actual donations, not pledges. FEC filings will of course have to verify all this at the end of the quarter, but I could easily see $4 million by the end of today.

The hate is strong with this one.

I don't think you have any business being a senior moderator. More like a senior instigator.

The video that is posted in conjunction with that link sounds much more positive than it did in text. Funny how removing something from it's original context can change its appearance drastically.

Unless you can show how his quoted comment has anything to do with Moderation, you owe a public apology to him or you will have earned a vacation for attacking a Moderator.

MODERATOR

1: one who arbitrates : mediator
2: one who presides over an assembly, meeting, or discussion: as a: the presiding officer of a Presbyterian governing body b: the nonpartisan presiding officer of a town meeting c: the chairman of a discussion group
3: a substance (as graphite) used for slowing neutrons in a nuclear reactor

It's a cumulative thing. Every thread with Ron Paul involves him belittling him in one way or another. This is not moderating in any of the 3 definitions above.

-------------------------------------------------
He was not Moderating within this thread. You attacked him as a Moderator.

Conservative my eye.

Ron Paul is the mirror which reveals the hypocrisy of your so-called conservative beliefs. He's the real Goldwater or Taft conservative in this race. When held up and compared with what you believe, you are revealed as a hypocrite.

This is why the hate is so strong in this thread. According to the Moonbeam school of thought, you cannot deal with your self hatred which is illuminated whenever Ron Paul's platform is discussed. His real conservative values simply don't square with what you support. You must divert the hatred from yourself to the object which exposes it. You have to smash the Ron Paul mirror so no one else will see that you aren't really what you claim to be.

Even if his post has nothing to do with moderation the fact that it says senior moderator under his name makes anyone wanting to respond think twice.

I took the post as "thats a lot of money but he still sucks" however I didn't want to earn a vacation so I politely suggested that maybe the polls aren't accurate. Maybe thats not what he intended to say but thats how I saw it.

Remember, Remember the 5th of November eh? All the candidates are a joke.

RP is the first government official i've wanted to vote for, as opposed to voting against. Who are you voting for and why are they better than RP?

The election is in Nov 2008. I have not made up my mind yet.

You are wise. This is arguably the most important vote you will ever cast in your lifetime. Take your time.

But what about the primaries?

It's a little confusing when moderators respond personally to threads... it can be read as moderator bias. compuwiz1 didn't do any moderating, however, so his comment should have been responded to without reference to his title.

At least that's how I think Common Courtesy is regarding the situation.

We do not have control over the titles under our names.

For the past 6 months we have had this albatros hung on the neck of all the Moderators.

Nonsense. Baiting a moderator is unacceptable, and a moderator who participates in a thread is not allowed to dole out any punishments themselves. These are well known and accepted rules here.

If a little title under a nickname causes so much grief, you may want to visit elsewhere.

Its funny how people have called the election that's a year away.

Hillary and Guilliani? Really... another 4 years of a Bush/Clinton, or another 4 years of Bush Jr jr? These are my options? Screw that. I was indifferent to politics, but enough is enough.

There's still a long way to go. Ron Paul is gaining steam each and every quarter.

We accepted the selection of being a Moderator. With it came the responsibilities of attempting to be even handed.
At the time, we were not outed and therefore the perceived conflict of interest did not exist.

We have guidelines regarding our moderation that have been posted in PFI for all members to review.

One is that we do not moderate threads that we are participating in. Other Moderators are called into play when such a situation exists.

As stated in the quoted post, compuwiz1 posted as a member, not a Moderator.
And morkinva was unable to provide evidence to the contrary, refused to acknowledge this and therefore is on vacation for 2 weeks.
