this depresses me. The fact that such a rare animal able to take 8? .50cal shots and then run for 3 hours died. Personally I feel a sense of respect for something so grand.

I think there's some camera trickery going on. If you look at the sticks and dirt on the pig, it doesn't appear to be the same scale as the person. Have you ever watched a cheap monster movie where it's obvious that they used models? You can tell because the texture of the dirt looks too big, and the water droplets are too large.

They played with the camera angles and zoom a bit to make it look larger.

Wild hogs aren't rare. They are a nusiance. A hog that big is uncommon. They are aggressive and not to be approached. They have some really big tusks and know how to use them.

That is the same exact thing I would do. Pork is delicious, especially delicious during Ramadan.

It's gonna taste gamy, Pork you buy in stores is grain fed for awhile on feed lots before

I agree that does sound pretty barbaric, I understand wild bores are vicious but I've never been attacked by one, probably because I don't trollop around in the forest. I wouldn't have been very angry if the bore had decided to flip the script and turned around and rammed the kid. I have no problem with hunting, but you shouldn't be hunting something you can't take down humanely, 5 shots over a 3 hour chase is wrong.

I have a few Hunter colleagues and afaik you are supposed to kill the animal in one shot to the heart - if you cant you shouldnt shoot. But maybe that is just some wild german hunting rule - dunno...

Its an effing wild boar, and they were out hunting. Thats like asking why someone would shoot a big deer when they were out hunting. Thats the whole damn point is to shoot something as big as you can. Idiots.

The animal has been around for a long time, he survived a long time without any harm to it. You don't see animals reach sizes like that. Doesn't matter the species, when something is truly large in size, and has managed to survive for a long time, I say, "let it go" 'Leave it alone."

What do you mean by "a long time"? A hog can grow to 800 pounds in a year. The pork you eat in the grocery stores is from a pig that's only about 6 months old.
