I was at a local one today, and looks like theyre getting ready for inventory.
They had a ton of displays on tables all over the place with fairly cheap prices.

Different stores probably do inventory at different times.

I work at CC in southern Cali, and as far as I know most if not all of the stores in this area are doing Inventory at end of January, so we are trying to clear out any open box items. Dont ask what items, cause frankly I really dont know. You just have to check out the place and see what each store happens to have. If you live near one, have some time to kill just wander in and check for tables with lots of openbox items, or look for display items that have a "openbox" tag with the price on it.

Oh, I don't know -- my local sears had 2 Sony Wega 27FV17's open box @ 30% off ($750 -> $530), and I popped into another Sears which also had one 27FV17 return that hadn't even been out of the box (also $530) -- which I snapped up.

I've seen this TV online for $494 (but then you add shipping, and who knows if you have to return it, swap it, etc...).

But BB has been pretty stingy with the markdowns this year -- $10 off on a 25" TV? Puleeeze. Only the big-ass projection HDTVs are getting over 15% off!

I normally dont look at the open box stuff, as CC usually has good discounts for employees (Specially car audio/video, sometimes up to 80% off normal retail). Theres a bunch of software on a table (probably older versions), and various other items here and there in each dept (At least at the Van Nuys location). Might be easiest to just ask people in the dept you are interested in.

And like somebody else posted about BB, we havent had a large amount of returns. I think people finally realized they should be happy they got anything and not be so picky.

For anybody interested,

I checked the CC here in St. Louis, next to Lindburgh and 55 and they had about 4 tables of open box stuff sitting around. I didn't have a lot of time to check prices, get reviews or anylize conditions, but it seems they had a chunk of recievers, decks, and some computer stuffs.. they also had sale prices on a bunch of stuff.. I picked up Spaceballs, the dvd, for 9.99 down from 19.99..

Anyway, probably worth checking out if you're in the area..
