"Checking NVRAM...." won't boot, any ideas?

Morning,
Out of the blue my trusty (2 years troublefree) little FIC Sabre SFF won't boot up. On the top of the first boot page it lists the processor and then just sits on the next line that says "Checking NVRAM...." I tried clearing the CMOS, pulling batteries blah blah blah, etc. and the little chit just won't boot. Am I looking at a new MB? any suggestions? Maybe take it to the range and hang it out at 100 yards and plink away with a SFF rifle (.17 HRM)??

When I've seen that, it ended up the bios was hosed. On one system I was able to pull the bios chip and send it away and have it reflashed.

Try using a friends Ram, and see if it boots.

If its not the Ram, you need a new mobo, and why not anyway after 2 years?

As a last resort, pull all cards, pull all cables, boot with nothing but cpu, ram and a video card, and see if it will go any further.

Let me update you guys ... First, thank you for the responses ...

I know from what I read that the NVRAM is BIOS memory (I think). I have tried clearing the CMOS (just guessing at the procedure as I don't have a manual .. hint, hint) and pulling the battery for 20 odd minutes etc. Now .. one time she did boot right up as if nothing was wrong but I didn't have the hard drive connected so I shut her down and fired her up again and she booted again .. I let it fully boot and did a proper shutdown because I was so sure it was corrected and the little fart went right back to a no boot scenario ....

I'll play with it later and report in .. right now it's getting the Sun Treatment ... sitting on the front seat of the truck ... in Arizona .. it was 103 today ... I drove with the windows open as it really isn't that hot yet.
