Only in America "extra" activities after school are considered "part of raising kids"
You see, around the world kids don't have such luxuries.
So it all depends on perspective......yours doesn't exactly line up with reality (which is ok, I'm Americanized as well, but I don't forget where I come from).
I have a feeling buying your kid an Iphone and paying services, buying a Car at 16/insurance/fix/........is ALL part of parenting TO YOU.
Riiiight
I'm gonna call bullshit on this. I know you grew up in Poland and having been there quite a bit I understand how cheap it was. My family used to specifically go to Poland for mini-weekend vacations since you could blow $50-$100 and live like a King in the best hotels, eating the best food, etc. I did the same when I was 18-20. However things have changed even in Poland. Stop living in the past. You sound like an old man "Back in my day I walked up hill both ways to and from school through snow, sleet, and hail".
Since I live overseas I guess I can back you up and say there isn't any cheer over here but you know they still have horseback riding, sailing, martial arts, ballet, dance, gymnastics, music, and other expensive activities that daughters like to participate in.
If it makes it easier I think you should look at this from a physical shape point of view. Cheer will get you in unbelievable shape. It works them hard. I really think it's good for them. It's good for their body, socially, and for their self confidence. Cheerleeding is probably not as good but I do believe you'll find it cheaper.
