Most people disagree with your only consisent position, which is that having virtue is a bad thing.

Having virtue is not a bad thing. Feeling the need to make sure all of the world knows all about how virtuous you are makes it shallow and phony and best though.

Or maybe he just has a different opinion than you. He's entitled to that.

That's a response which applies to itself, of course. Equally well, people are entitled to disagree with his opinion and make plausible suggests as to why he has an opinion that does not appear to be supported by the facts.

Why do you think that applies to whatever case you are referring to, though? Though your "virtue-signalling" comment didn't say what it was supposed to be referring to anyway. I acknowledge that term does refer to a real phenomenon, but it seems way over-used these days. And it became so overused about five minutes after first being coined (Libby Purves actually claimed to have invented the term, though I bet she didn't, I bet it predates her use of it)

I don't see it applies to anything anyone posts here, for example, because it's a forum that is both anonymous and utterly inconsequential. I think the bigger motivations for posting would be 'not having anything more useful to do' 'seeking distraction from other things one doesn't want to think about or do' along with 'working out some emotional issue via the catharthis of ranting'. (Not that I get any of that from introspection, not at all, no sir.)

'Virtue signalling' is one of those buzz-phrases that have grown from a one-off use to be a cut-and-paste, lazy fall-back accusation used as a substitute for an argument. There's a list of phrases like that I'd ban, if I were in charge (including "whataboutery" and "Godwin's law", both of which get misued far more often than they are used accurately - there needs to be a meta-Godwin's law that says the first person to inappropriately employ Godwin's law, loses the argument).

Actually I struggle to think of an example of pure virtue-signalling, where the signalling completely outweighs real content. I'm certain there are some, but the real thing doesn't come up all that often. What _does_ come up are people making a big show of awareness of one form of privilege or power, while completely ignoring another.

Yet another slow thread where he claims racism doesn't exist and blacks just are poorer because they're lazy and stupid and not as good as whites. That's all.

Every racism denial thread you make ironically exposes your racism for all to see.

Don't forget he's claiming he's actually been the one harmed by racism and sexism. It doesn't exist when it happens to non-whites and women, but he makes up a story about it happening to him and thinks people can't see through his lies, but also somehow expects people to be sympathetic to him while he runs around on here screaming about others doing that.

His brain is fucked. He literally has the mind of a cartoon character:

Funny then how the only speech that you or the OP condemn as shallow and phony 'virtue signalling' is any speech condemning racism and bigotry. But I guess that's just one way how racists and bigots try to silence speech they disagree with, or don't want heard, isn't it, Fucking Idiot?

I don't think 'silencing' is the right word.

Accusations of 'virtue signalling' and similar are about finding something to say in reply that doesn't require actually thinking. It's a means of not listening and of protecting one's world view...but it's not silencing, not in the sense of censorship. Perhaps in the sense of putting hands over one's ears, though.

I agree with you. I was just mirroring the way he speaks. I do that often BTW. In this case, Ugly likes to use a number of alt-right buzzphrases, including the disingenuous alt-right argument that speech he disagrees with 'silences' speech he agrees with, and I like to throw that back at him, but from the opposing perspective, in order to demonstrate how ridiculous, self-serving, and illogical his rhetoric is. I do this to other posters as well.

Oh, and the 'Fucking Idiot' remark is from Ugly's Sam Smith thread, and used for the same reason.

Don`t say that too loud!! Slow actually believes that anybody in this day and age regardless of race if they apply themselves and work hard and make good decisions will be able to live the American dream...
But you have to remember that Slow is TRUMP supporter and people like Trump use slows favorite saying to put and hold the disadvantaged down!!
Good thing we have the champions of the down-trotted and oppressed like yourself. Who else is going to fight the evil whitey and his chains of oppression? Just sign up to have all your needs supplied to you and vote Democrat if you wish to no longer be held down by the man.

Oh look, another idiot too stupid to realize the all too obvious implications of his denial of systemic racism.

Racism, and denial of racism are not conservative values. You've been duped.

Watched part of the documentary and thought it was pretty intersting. Not exactly pointing out much new for anyone who's paying attention, but I guess that's the point. But I assume no proper discussion of the content will occur in this troll thread started by a white identity politics obsessed moron. Too bad. The retard's rambling funnily enough highlights the problem with the racism issue; how can you fight it when the opponents deny it exists? I'll admit the strategy is quite clever. They realized that openly being for racism like they used to is no longer tolerable. Therefore just deny that it exists, be it racism, sexism, trans people etc.
