Uh, you literally told him not to reply if he was going to point out your racism, which was pretty apparent in that post. You can't have it both ways. And there's no honest discussion to be had with you if you can't see the multiple examples of bias, bigotry, and pretty much outright racism (which you're of course keen to refuse to accept to call it what it is, which there's a word for that, its the opposite of honest, by the way).
I will admit that some white people have treated some black people very poorly throughout history. I will also admit that many people have treated blacks poorly throughout history. Blacks have been equated no differently than a mule or a simple animal throughout time. It's only a recent thing that they've been shown some dignity and are looked at as a human. It's sad.
However, I have never brutalized any black person. I've never raped one, I've never murdered one, and I have never kept one destitute nor have I not hired a black man because of his race. My family immigrated to this country from Norway in the 1910's or 1920's. Am I to be held responsible for these reparations? Why? I'm not responsible for the treatment of blacks that has happened since the dawn of man. I couldn't tell you how my family or ancestors treated blacks. They may have never seen one. They may have had a slave in Norway during the Viking age. Who's to know... ? You talk about us whites having to take responsibility for our behavior from generations ago, but who on the black side is going to take responsibility for the situation they are in today? Who's going to own that? Or do we turn a blind eye to Chicago? Or Detroit? Or Liberia? Or Haiti? If we're going to admit problems, it's going to have to be a two way street. Only then will we make any real progress. But all I'm really hearing is that it needs to be whites and it's a one way street only, by those who are being hypocrites. I didn't live back then, but I can't imagine what we have in Chicago is better than what it was like for them in the 1850's. Both time periods are horrible. So who's going to address that? Hint: It's not whites, nor will it be our reparations.
I find it odd that you bring up some of these points because white people have been brutalized at the hands of other people, raped, discriminated against as well throughout time, so has every group of people. Humans have been barbarians, period. It sucks. What about Zimbabwe, or South Africa today? Are those white farmers just victims of their own racism? Is it justified that they are having their lands stolen? That they are being raped and murdered today? They deserve it? I'm sure whites said blacks deserved the same back then. What are you willing to condone and condemn here?
I also find it ironic that the ones saying "let them decide the reparations" are the ones who live in their $1,000,000 home in San Francisco. I have no clue where you live, but sell you house and donate the value to a random underprivileged black in Alabama. Be a good steward and be an example for the rest of society. Or better yet, put your money where your mouth is. Not on board? Then all of what you said is drivel. I'd love to have blacks in a better position than they are today. Quite honestly, going through black parts of town scare me...
