Exactly. Personally I'd as soon spend seven years in prison as spend seven years expecting to be murdered while hanging out with Putin, and as far as motivation I find Snowden's motivation to be at least laudable whilst Manning's is merely revenge against everyone because he/she didn't fit in.Perhaps he is not questioning whether 7 years was enough so much as he might be questioning why you would not be willing to give a pass to Snowden when you're willing to give a pass to Manning.
I took it to mean 7 years is a sentencing more in line with reality than a simply a case of a bail out on account of a suicide attempt. As noted in an earlier post, 35 years is more time than traitors have gotten for selling state secrets for profit. The time needs to be weighed against the crime, as well as precedent.

Exactly. I don't see how anything that has transpired since should change that. Given the inclination, leftists can find "special circumstances" surrounding nearly any inmate that should result in his or her release. Society can't afford to indulge all these sophomoric inclinations. We are a nation with a basis in the rule of law and there are very important reasons behind that.Manning should serve the sentence that was awarded by the court for the traitorous acts that were commited.
