Blitzer really didn't exactly come out swinging, either. He very meekly stands up to Cheney and allows himself to be railroaded on the answer, and then doesn't come back with anything on topic, instead leaving the course for something entirely different, and ends up sucking up entirely and then awkwardly trying to back out of it. It's pretty weak on his part, he genuinely let himself be cowed by Cheney.

I love Bush 1,000x more than DickfCheney.
Guy is an asshole.

Be glad Bush is in power over him. We would have caused WW3 by now.

Why does anyone even interview cheney? It's just one lie after another. What a complete waste of time & video tape.

I think Blitzer respectfully stood his ground on that question.

As for Cheney's response, the cynical part of me thinks he was using his barely controlled fury type response to show he had as much cajones as Bill Clinton. The more charitable part of me agrees with Cheney that his daughter's decision to have a child really is not a newsworthy event.

A more proper question would have been how Cheney can square his government's practice of enforcing "Christian" (quotation marks intentional) values upon the USA with his daughter's decision and practices.

Well, the more lies that come out of his mouth, the less credibility the administration has with the public. Maybe the people will be outraged enough to do something about it... say a 2006 election overthrowing the republican control of congress?

Let this day, 01/25/2007, be remembered, as the day Aimster said he loved Bush.

As I pointed out in a different, but related thread, the popularity (or lack thereof) of Cheney and Bush reflect poorly on the Republican Party as a whole. That's the point you seem to be constantly missing. Ignoring public opinion sounds good on paper, but as the highest elected Republicans in the land, what they do reflects good or bad on other Republicans. Ignore public opinion at your own peril and hey - good luck in 2008 - you'll need it.

BTW, Cheney's approval numbers are around 19%.

Oh ok thanks for the update. Ill let his re-election comittee know.

Yes, of course. His credibility is only worthy of consideration in the context of re-election.

He said popularity and it is a pointless considering he is done with public office in under 2 years. He could have 0% popularity and he isnt going anywhere.
Do you actually believe that Cheney has served America well, especially over the last 4 years?

Why are you confused? Is that what I said? In fact what point does your response have at all to do with the topic at hand?
Well you're jumping to his defence, I was wondering if you were doing so because you thought highly of him and the job he has done. I guess from your response you don't.

You`ll have to pardon Red Dawn he is use to asking meaningless questions that have nothing to do with the topic at hand......

HA! you want to bag on Red Dawn over meaningless posts!??! dude...no one can come CLOSE to matching you when it comes to meaningless posts.

as for the OP. Cheney could have made up some PR ground over "protecting" the rights of his families privacy, Blitzer totally stumbled all over that subject. But it was a lost opportunity the moment he started to glare at Blitzer. Come on, at least PRETEND you can be human you dumb @ss!!

after watching cheney's body and face language, as well as listening to him speak, i feel he is the perfect guy to man a customer service and returns desk at a local walmart superstore. he's got it all, and then some.

to his quote that huge successes were had in iraq, i'm sure dick-the-*rick was referring to the huge amounts of cash he and his friends over at halliburtion have made since they started this war of fun and profit.

to the question of how honest, sincere and trustworthy he is, i think the only person that i know of that exceeds him in failing at that these qualities is his boss, with the car salesman who sold me my first fourth-hand clunker way way way behind of both of them.

but what does he care...i'm sure he's quite content with and perhaps even pleasantly surprised at how pleasingly plump his portfolio has gotten from the exploitation of his current position as VP, with the thought in mind that usually, it's not the front man (bush) that gets a bigger slice of the action.

it's what you get when you let arrogant self-righteous politically corrupted businessmen spun off from large corporations run the country and especially the military.

edit - grammar

Personally, I think Cheney is just too deep into this mess, and too arrogant to admit that the administration basically frakked up the whole occupation from day one.

Seconded. I honestly don't think he is serious about anything he posts. It is all meaningless.

Perhaps Dick's become accustomed to the "So Mr. Cheney, how many schools have we painted in Iraq?" soft-balls he regularly gets on FNC? :brokenheart:
Let's think here deal.

Just because the statement came from focus on the family does not mean it is an appropriate question to ask the man. What does his daughter have to do with how he does his job as VP?

Look at the reaction to the Obama went to a madrassa mess. The story came from the Clinton's, and yet everyone jumped up and down and blamed Fox and Insight. "How dare they make they make that type of statement!"
Now why is it wrong for Fox and Insight to repeat a story that comes from the Hillary Camp, but it is ok for CNN to ask a question from Focus on the Family? If the question/charge is out of line, then it is out of line, its source should be meaningless.

What would the reaction be if some liberal group posted a statement ala "Chelsea Clinton says she will never marry because of her parents relationship" and someone asked Hillary a question based on that statement. Would that excuse the question?

BTW: The grandchild question was out of line. No reason to ask it. In the midst of the impeachment scandal People magazine wrote a story about Chelsea and the Clinton?s responded with this statement: "We deeply regret and are profoundly saddened by the decision of People magazine to print a cover story featuring our daughter Chelsea,"
The family of the President and VP should be left alone. Unless there is a question of ethics or corruption, neither of which occur in this Cheney question.

Public office = no private life.

If the Clinton's presidency has taught us anything it is that people like Dick Cheney are ALL ACCESS.

And like I said before, he had a great opportunity to elevate himself above partisan drivel...but he ended up looking like such a weasel.

well said. Kudos to Cheney for putting Wolf in his place. It was hilarious watching Wolf blubbering, trying to come up with something to say, and of course, trying to pull back the reins at the end by saying "let's wind up on a sof-"

of course, the lib who recorded that cut that end part out.

This isn't Cheney's life we are talking about, this is his daughters and grandchilds life.
There are pictures floating around the internet of Chelsea Clinton drunk off her ass being carred to the car, should the press be able to ask Hillary about this?

Absolutely.

It is after all the freedom of the press. You and I may not like it, but that is the way it goes..

You should know, I mean, you have all those pretty "free speech" quotes in your sig. Don't you read them?

Well, if they weren't able to we wouldn't really have a free press now would we?

I do agree that the question was rather inappropriate and completely out place. Much like how John Kerry commented on this previously.

Of course he can ask the question. Then Cheney can tell him to go f? himself. Once you leave civil discourse you should expect none in return.
