Why in God's name would Chicago even be considered? I can think of at least 100 cities that would be better suited to hosting the Olympics than Chicago. I hope it goes to Rio; Brazilian chicks are hot.

Olympics IS big business. It would have brought in a big boom. What happens after the boom is another matter completely

It's Michael Jordan's Fault

The Daley Plaza crowd reacted to Chicago?s elimination in silence. Some members of the crowd were crying as they walked away. People blamed negative media attention on the bid and former Chicago Bulls star Michael Jordan?s lack of participation as reasons for the loss.

?We weren?t unified as a city. We didn?t get behind this enough,? said Rob Fox of Chicago.

?Michael Jordan didn?t show up,? said Margaret Johnson of Chicago. ?His city asked him for help and he turned his back on us.?

Both have beautiful women, but Rio women are much friendlier and you have the absolutely fantastic beaches to check them out.

Hahah. Michael Jordan IS a huge douche, but you can hardly blame this on him.

That kind of sucks. It would have been nice to see the game without having to travel so far.

Truthfully, fuck the IOC's process. It's a circle-jerk of wasted money. The IOC should either just draw up a list of first-refusal in private OR they should just pick permanent sites and rotate. Permanent sites have the appeal of being able to reuse facilities. Pick one city on each continent and rotate the games among them. I don't care if it isn't fair, it just makes more sense then this stupid bidding process.

That's the whole reason for it unfortunately. The IOC are just business folks looking for the most lucrative deal on the table. Your city is willing to shell out billions more than this other city? Why you just made it the next round!

Honestly, I think the crime news coming out of Chicago did them in at the last minute.

Tokyo is the safest city of the finalists, by far. Madrid just has lots of pickpockets.

Rio is notorious for crime of all kinds. If Rio is the place, then crime there might actually go down with all of the security that will have to be put in place. Once you are outside of the Olympic venues you had better not be carrying anything valuable, though, even on the beach!

For some reason, the song "Girl From Ipanema" keeps playing in my head!

BTW, the bar that song was written in is still around, or was the last time I was in Rio. Kind of a funky place, as is the neighborhood.

Jordan said long ago he's done with "dog and pony shows." Chicagoans hoping for him to participate need to get over it.

It pretty much has to be Rio now, doesn't it? The IOC doesn't like having consecutive Olympics on the same continent.

Chicago cant do Lolla without selling out every hotel in a 15mile radius. NO WAY could they have supported the Olympics.

What happened to the mighty Oprah and Obama? LOL!

Jordan is too busy enjoying life by playing golf and gambling.

I bet that would happen to most cities when they host big events.
