I can agree with this. There seems to be a new breed of 'college educated snob' on AT. Ones that think that anyone without such an education is beneath them. Literally, a bunch of stuck up pricks.

Just try talking about manufacturing and it lures them out in bunches.

I would take one good skilled tradesman over a hundred of these 'college educated' pricks.

That may be partially true but I can throw out names (I won't) of some of those that I describe above. I wouldn't waste a drop of piss on them if they were on fire.

ya your probably right. We do have a bunch of older early 30s know it alls who just got promoted into some jr management position who read Ayn Rand and masterbate furiously to Drudge.

The other thing most don't take into account is construction is seasonal. If you don't work you don't get paid. Rain holds up jobs so these aren't guaranteed paying jobs...

Most construction even Union don't have sick pay nor vacation pay.

There is no more job security in construction Unions. You can get fired or laid off. It happens a lot actually even where I live in Silicon Valley.

Yes, there is quite a demand nowadays for blue-collar jobs such as trades. And they pay very well. Sadly there aren't many people who are willing (or able) to put in the physical work that these jobs require.

It is very possible to make $80k+/year without a college degree. But you have to work for it.

true, my dad does a trade and makes pretty good money

but it is very hard on his body. a knee and an elbow are both showing signs of wearing out. might have to get something done before retiring
