Chicago White Sox BUTTRAPED by Detroit Tigers

As a Detroit sports fan, I'm pleased to report that the Chicago White Sox have been lube-lessly buttraped by the Detroit Tigers. Six wins of the Tigers' 12 game winning streak came against the White Sox and two of them were huge comeback wins.

In the second game of the first series, the Tigers rebounded from a 1-8 deficit to win 9-8.

Then today, trailing 5-2 with one out in the 9th inning, the Tigers hit two home runs to tie the score at 5-5. But it gets even better. In the bottom of the 9th inning the White Sox had a man on third and only one out. I thought for sure that they would finally win one. But wait! Their batter grounds into a double play to end the inning! As he came around first base, he threw his helmet into the ground and kicked it towards second base. (Laugh!). Then the Tigers scored a run in the 10th to win it 6-5.

A dark cloud of bad luck descended on the White Sox and they got pwned because of it.

There's an MLB thread, but yes, these last two weeks have certainly been satisfying. And watching Pierzynski, the douchiest player on the douchiest team, slam and kick his helmet was perhaps most satisfying of all.

They were still in the AL East when they last won a division IIRC. Since realignment, they have won the wild card in the playoff year(s).

Anyway, how is that Doug Fister trade working out for you guys? I watched almost all of the FistHer's starts when he was in Seattle, and I grew to really like him. He has a great demeanor on the mound, does not seem like the type to get rattled in the playoffs either. When that trade went down, I wrote that you guys would grow to love him, if you just give him some run support. Something we could not give him here in Seattle.

Since it looks like my M's won't be in the post season, I am comfortable rooting for the Tigers since Fister is there. I never root for an AL East team, that is for sure.

So, go Tigers?

Based on reading some Detroit area news articles, I think Fister is well-liked and regarded as the 2nd best starting pitcher on the roster.

They are certainly hot right now. A lot of people worry that they'll go cold by playoff time, but are they supposed to get tired running the bases or something? Everyone that is hot now has gotten to where they are by slowly improving over the course of the season. It is pretty amazing the way, be it position player, utility man, or pitcher has picked up their game. About the only player not really picking up their game was the pitcher today, Penny, and he'll likely not be on the post season roster. The only person I worry about is Avila, the catcher, but it seems the more you ride that horse the stronger he gets.

I kind of foresaw this coming. Tigers schedule had them playing the most teams with the greatest winning records early in the season and loaded up on division opponents in the second half.

I think the team really wanted to prove that they don't deserve the reputation for fading in the second half.

Fister is pitching as well as Verlander right now. His ERA was like 3 when he came over is more like 2 in the last month. The rotation will be Verlander, Fister, Sherzer, Verlander, Fister, Sherzer, Verlander. Good luck beating them 4 times.

It's got to be tough taking him out when he's being more dominating as the game goes on. In his last start he got into a jam in like the seventh inning and threw 3 pitches in a row at 101 mph to strike a guy out.

I'm an Indians fan and slightly angry with the Tigers, but at the same time, they have 40% of our infield from the '07 playoff team so it's kind of like they're the Indians anyway. They should be congratulated for waking Peralta from his multi-year coma.

I'm a White Sox fan so I have to say this has been the most disappointing season that I can remember. The only response I have to the OP is good luck this year.

Oh and about AJ. I hated him before he came to the White sox but I have to say he's one of the smartest players in the league.
