Seriously?
Jap is short for Japanese. It's commonly used when describing electronics or items that are made in Japan as opposed to Taiwan or China due to the fact that Japanese goods are of much higher quality. So yeah, its normal to qualify something as JAP in front of the item to differentiate it. beloved patriot isn't short for anything. They aren't chinkenese people.
Jap used to have negative meaning especially right after WWII when the servicemen used the term in a derogative manner, however, much like the term "ricer" once meant someone who simply drove an import now means someone who modifies a foreign car, it has changed over time to simply describe someone or something as from Japan. The negativity once associated with the word has fallen off.
No it hasn't. Please use it out in public and let us know.
