That mom and other women like her need some real help. I've seen too many women in relationships with abusive guys and they won't leave. It's very frustrating. Nobody deserves that and anyone should be able to do better than a person who beats them.

It seems to me more and more often i am realizing that some people should not be allowed to have children. I mean come on.. you need a licence to drive a car, a licence to have a dog, but any moron can go out and have a kid.....:frown:

I mean a single mother with 2 kids. How far do you think that child would have went. I mean look at the MAJORITY of single parent families and read how messed up they are. The boyfriend is a prime example. Drunk bum (most likely), and a mother who DATES these kind of man. I mean the daughter would have probably grown up, with no respect for herself or others. Probably use drugs, smoke, get pregnant very early. Then I would be angry because I have to pay for THEIR mistakes (Medicaid, food stamps) Single parent homes aren't really a pretty site. Now that's what I find to be sad also

(now I know that what I say isn't totally true. I have friends who came from a single parent family, they're cool. Don't think I'm saying EVERY single parent family is like this)

That sorry excuse for human is a coward and he should be hunged by his balls.:|

However, there are others who should also bear the some of the blame.

1. That mother knew he was abusive person and yet didn't do anything about it. She also failed to protect her daughter who was attempting to protect her mother.
She should of died trying to protect her 6 year old daughter.

2. DCFS could have been more diligent, they recieved first complaint over three months ago and subsquent complaint this month, that should of raised a huge red flag
for them to ensure children are protected from that waste of gene pool.

What a tragedy.....I'm dismayed at how we the humans can be so vicious and brutal.

Yes, thank you for saying not all single parent homes are like this.... truth be told, i have seen some pretty f*ed up 2 parent families as well.... they mother hates the father but they are staying together for the children but having afairs with other people...sheesh, it is sometimes just as bad. This problem has no "border" or society lines either. It can happen in the richest of cities and the poorest of slums.

yes, but suffice to say, all other things equal, it is better to have a well-off two-parent household than an impoverished one-parent household. there are no lines, but there is an uneven distribution, i would say.

that's mess up.

also, the girls mom waited a while rather than take the girl to the hospital right away. she was negligent in that too.

I don't disagree w/ the sentiment, but i have a problem with how it will be carried out. can you imagine a state department licensing and giving permission to have children?? can you imagine how political something like that could get??

would they discriminate based on race, mb not, but would they discriminate based on income??

i don't know. i have a problem with giving more responsibilities to the state.

yes, it is probably not possible in america today.

but hypothetically, i would hope that they discriminate partially on income. what i mean is, they should set the income limit to subsistence and base the rest on criterea concerning the parents themselves. after all, i'd rather have a dirt poor good parent than a rich bad parent. and of course they wouldn't base it on race! jesus...

yeah, it was just a figure of speech. I agree with you wholly. still, you see people with a delapidated house, on welfare, with 10 kids....its just pathetic. I hate HATE the idea of welfare.

btw, there is an alternative....

there are these non-profit orgs now that give money to drug addicts to get sterilizations or get on long term birth control. pretty cool stuff if you ask me

One would hope not,

but imagine the scenarios.

1. It's just about revenues and the hand out licenses to everyone that applies. (obviously this would be pointless and would never fly).

2. It is very indepth but ULTIMATELY it is going to be up to the judgement of the bureaucrat making the decision. that's the problem, it will be impossible to set good guidelines so they will have to leave it up to the "instincts" of the person making the call. IF this is the case, don't you think racial biases and prejudices will play a part in the decision making process?

Yeah look at China. Because of the rapid over population the government limits only 1 child per family. And if its not the child they want, too bad.

ie. Family wants a boy, get a girl. Sadly family kills the infant or leaves at one's doorstep to have another shot a boy

I don't know the impact of what it would do in the US per se, but I don't think you can tell the "homie" down the street to stop banging his chick to help reduce these kinds of occurances. I mean come on the Puerto Rican would flip out. I mean I don't think you can stop it. Thats what most people live for...... S-E-X. Others live for themselves (selfish) and others live to make others lives better.

so sad. i wonder what the mom's role in all this is...perhaps she was knocked out and couldn't help her daughter? did she even try? did she wait to call 911 because of grief, or because she was hesitating? Maybe she even contributed to the beating, in some way. Lots of questions

but also: not every woman in abusive relationship chooses to be in one. Often, they are deceived early on, and then can't escape. just a though

oh, i see what you mean. i thought you were talking about official racism. okay, yes i guess they are bound to come into play. i think you would have to be very careful in selecting judges. or you could just have people of the same race be the person making the decision
