No offense but I don't need to try your chili, Tommy's is world famous for theirs and like I said people around the world pay to have FED-EX overnight them a batch. I would imagine that would cost a decent amount to do

How might one go about getting an order from Tommy's shipped via FedEx?

NM... got their number from their website Q&A page. Apparently they can freeze a batch and mail it to you. Sweet!

I guess it depends on what kind of party is it - I assume because you suggested chilli it's a sit down with plates and glasses of wine type party, and if that's the case I'd expect people to bring proper food. If it's a stand with beers and dance with girls party then fuck it, just bring pizza.

Dude... I'm talking about an office party as in held at the office. Plus I'm in Utah and work for state government, so there will definitely be no alcohol. (Which totally sucks, I might add.) Picture paper plates, plastic cups and utensils, and people sitting around a big conference room table.

Uh.. what?

chili cookoff style usually uses small cubes of various cuts. recognizable vegetables will often get you disqualified.

I haven't had it, but apparently Skyline has good chili too. And in a lot of states you can buy it cans at groceries. It's that Cincinnati chili, which is thin and weird but kinda good, definitely different.

QTF about "no beans" chili with beans is horrible

I appreciate all the recipes though. Maybe I can sweet talk the wife into cooking up something.

And it's not like everyone else is bringing food they made themselves. I bet there are dinner rolls from a local bakery, potato and/or pasta salad from a local deli, etc. Or is the sticking point me trying to pass off restaurant chili for my own?

If they wouldn't be so prone to eating everything before it comes in to visual contact, I think I could teach my dogs to make chili. You don't need to be able to cook to make chili. You really just have to be able to measure things, dump them into a crock pot, and stir every few hours. It ranks just above making buttered toast on the difficulty level.

Right, they take up valuable space that could be filled with macaroni.

some advice from experience - don't drive too fast or come to an abrupt halt while transporting chili.

Although Texas chili does not have beans, I love kidney beans in my chili.

I've been banned from making chili in the house - stinks up the place... this year, i'm just going to cook it in the garage(crockpot).

Oh, that's so sad.

My family loves chilies. White Bean Chicken Chili is our all time favorite and is cooked at home at least once or twice in a week.

Every pot of home made chili I have ever eaten or made has had both ground beef and beans in it as part of the main ingredients. So to me, IMO, meat and sauce alone does not equal real chili. Contests/cook-offs can set their rules as they see fit, but it doesn't make them the end all and be all authority of what ingredients chili should be made with.

you want some ground chuck - fatty beef makes better chili. about 2 lbs. you could also use a beef and ground pork mixture. 2 lbs beef and 1 lb pork is probably good.
1 16 oz can of chopped or crushed tomatoes
1 large white onion (yellow is good too), minced/diced
4 or 5 cloves garlic, smashed
chili powder to taste
ground cumin to taste
ground cayenne to taste
pepper and salt to taste
6er of beer
16 oz kidney beans if you like (though some will claim adding them means you're not making chili)

slowly brown the beef with the onions, add in garlic and spices, add in tomatoes, reduce over medium heat (check seasoning when its reduced) add beer, reduce, add another beer and reduce if you like, add beans last (reduce and check seasoning). best to make it a couple days beforehand and let it all meld in the fridge.

the chili powder is your seasoning base. if you want it a bit more earthy add cumin, if you want it more spicy add cayenne. you shouldn't need to add much salt as it is probably the first ingredient in chili powder.

any recipe that has bell peppers in it is not a chili recipe. it's a spaghetti sauce recipe.

Good recipe, but I also add:

- paprika with the other spices - absolutely essential
- worcestershire sauce
- roast sweet red peppers - blended up - ignore ElFenix this is good shit
- a few squares of dark (very dark) chocolate

The beer I don't get.

Chocolate? Sounds intriguing.

Lol so you like chili that's not true chili, that's fine, authentic chili has meat and spices and that's it. Chili Con Carne is what chili is supposed to be, along the way poor people started to add beans & veggies because it was cheaper and they didn't have money to make Chili Con Carne. Weird how something people did only because they didn't have money caught on like it did lol. A lot of people like chili with beans and bell peppers and shit in it now a days. That's up to them, sort of how I like to put hot dogs in my mac & cheese. But I at least admit it's not authentic mac & cheese at that point

I picked up a gallon of Tommys chili I'm in HEAVEN. I ate a bowl of it, and used some as dip for Tortilla chips. I would kill somebody for the recipe for this! haha.

no lol chili with beans is a lie, you didn't have chili, you had "chili with beans" notice how the word beans has to be added? if you buy canned chili and it has beans it will say "chili with beans" on the label. If chili was supposed to have beans they wouldn't have to add it to the label, duh

Only Backwaters add "with Beans". Everywhere else, Beans are assumed.
