It has 3 brightness/contrast presets that are very handy (Picture Mode, Text Mode, Economy)
Coming from CRT, some of the colors may look awkward - only 16.2 million colors vs. 16.7 for CRT (skin colors in movies) - but I got used to it.
60 fps v-synched in games - looks great. Both DVI and VGA inputs work well (can't tell the difference) - DVI on my 6800GT, VGA on my back-up 5200fx
CHIMEI is not some no-name, it is a gigantic producer of electronics that other brands label as their own. It's been around for years, making monitor and TV panels.
some reviews say brightness levels are low, but my monitor is as bright as sun...
can't tell about the noise - I'm hearing impaired
The monitor does NOT feel cheap. It is built well. Stand does not allow any rotation, only a slight tilt up/down, but people say one can buy an "arm" and attach it to standard mount on the back of the monitor - then it can be rotated 360*
If you want to know more, ask questions.
I will not go back to my 19" Viewsonic CRT, for sure!
edit: don't even think about using this monitor for photo editing - I have a veteran photoman who says colors on LCD are dead - digital. They look much better on CRT. No LCD monitor is yet suitable for professional photo editing.
edit2: this topic is relevant, although a bit old.

edit3: there is a slight bleeding on top and bottom when viewing a movie, but make room a little brighter and it's unnoticeable.
