I was just contemplating this yesterday, do we actually need the US in NATO? I dont think so? We will be fine, and in many instances we will be able to move more freely ie. in regards to Ukraine.

It is inevitable. Doubt China and Russia likes each other very much but they understand the whole enemy of my enemy is my friend type deal. China already has a very firm hold on the South China Seas, having built up multiple islands and military bases on them, claiming international waters as theirs. It's only a matter of time before they start working with Russia so they can support each other when they make their move on Europe and Asia. The plan to fracture USA and Europe is already in motion and bearing fruit.

I'm not so sure about the long term outlook for China-Russian relations. There is a lot of history there and folks in the east have long memories. I would suspect that China will play nice, and war games is a good opportunity to assess the capabilities of your "friends". There are a number of competing interests which I think will eventually break relations between Russia and China...but for now, the optics look good for both countries. As the US becomes more protectionist we leave a vacuum to be filled by others.
