You make it sound like a pushover, when in fact the opposite was the case. At the time, the Luftwaffe was extremely capable, and had aircraft superior to that of the Allies. The Luftwaffe was also the first to deploy jet aircraft (but did so towards the very end of the war, when they weren't able to make a difference), and the Luftwaffe (I believe) was in charge of the rocketry program, which produced the V1 and V2 terror weapons (the V2 was the first man-made object to go from one point to another on the earth via space.)

Actually, most of the Luftwaffe was annihilated in the Eastern Front

Just another (albeit strong) European nation. History doesn't support the idea that a nation can maintain status as super power. No doubt about it the US won't have it forever. It's not a flash in the pan but things will shift.

Well, I don't think you can compare a century old Britain with present day US. I don't see how it can turn out that some other nation may overtake the superpower status from the US, the US just won't allow it LOL . And I think that the world has become so morally and mentally exhausted that other nations just don't posses the adequate energy and resources to create a super power. I also have to add that I don't know jack about politics, so excuse me if I sound dumb .

Look at history.

Do you think the British or Spanish or Roman or (place empire name here)thought their reign as the dominant power would end?

NO!

Yet they did. Now, in general, empires lifespans have shortened over the millenia....This isn't always the case.. Alexander's empire lasted about the length of his life and poof! It was gone. But as knowledge and information has spread more rapidly around the world change has happened more rapidly. It is virtually inevitable that the US will eventually lose dominance as the world's superpower.

As for China's military strength...I also think China is not interested in a global war. They will flex their growing muscles from time to time, but they have years to go before they will even rival the ex Soviet Union militarily, let alone the US.

Bingo. The U.S. Navy would have China confined to the mainland in less than a day from the arrival of the Seventh Fleet, and it would be the most lopsided naval battle in history.

China and America would never go all out. No one is gonna win., we jsut nuke the crap outta each other. jsut like US and USSR in the cold war. Came close, but no one wanted to press the button

Does China have an ICBM that can reach the US? (I really don't know..I'm curious) Cuz the last I heard, China's ICBMs can POSSIBLY reach Los Angeles and that's about it. If that's the case, they would really have no chance.

China has a growing satellite launch capability and plans to launch people into space by the middle of the decade, so I would guess that they do indeed have long range ICBMs.

One billion men doesn't mean anything if you can't deploy them, and China'a Air Force is a joke as well as their Navy. I am not afraid of China in any capacity, hell they have to steal their technology, what does that tell you. Communism is dead....those idiots just haven't realized it yet.

Nah, the don't have to steal. The just buy the US mil-spec hardware and plans from Israel.

As to being afraid of Chinas army... I might if I lived next to them. Other that that: no, not yet. But in 10 years time, they will have seriously upgraded equipment, and then they will become a real threat.

Actually, Israel doesn't seel US milspec hardware to China. They sell Israeli developed/designed milspec hardware and plans to China....and certainly NOT the latest technologies. Heck, they are selling the Lavi jet plans/technology to China for goodness sake! That plane was developed almost 20 years ago and elieve me, the Israelis have developed much better technology since then...not to mention the US!

Heck, when Israel made agreements to sell several of their early warning C&C aircraft to China, the US balked and forced them top cancel the sale and be forced to pay china over 300 million in damages (China claimed the canceled order put a severe strain on their plans or somesuch so, even though nothing was paid to Israel, Israel had to pay China 300 million in damages). That was odd, to say the least!

So, yes, Israel sells technology and even equipment to China, but it's older technology. I doubt very much Israel is selling their Merkava mk4 plans to China, for instance. mk 1 or 2? Maybe. mk 4? no way.

Not at all. Not in my lifetime. Of course, empires rise and fall, but it doesn't happen in a year or two. It takes centuries for the civilization to change. And I think that the US can stay a superpower forever. When was the last devastating and world shattering change in the civilization? The falling of the Roman empire, a little less than 2 thousand years ago. Since then, the civilization has stayed almost the same. There has been Western civilization (Europe, and later - Europe and the US), and Eastern (India, China, Arab countries etc). This has remained unchanged for, say, about two thousand years.

Thus, I think it's impossible for us to predict the far future, b/c we can't even imagine what might happen. But in the near future, I don't see China as a threat of any major kind.

What are you smoking? 100 years ago England had the world as its biatch. 25% of the worlds land and population lived under its rule, and it's culture was totally dominant across the world. It was among the most powerful nations to have ever existed...and now it's just another European country. The US will *not * remain a superpower forever. Nothing lasts forever my friend. Sad but true.

I bet Romans in 200 A.D said exactly the same thing. How could their massive army ever fall to such pitiful backwards tribes? Well the pitiful tribes looked and learned, and the Romans became lazy. That's what humans do best

Don't scoff China. They are looking and learning.
